OT-Pistons to Pittsburgh

Not only is the city's economy struggling, but now they want to take the only successful sports organization - the Red Wings out of the city? It's obviously not very likely, but still interesting that it even is thought about.

This is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever read. I blame Drew Sharp again for this. This Pistons make so much god damn money in Detroit. Has this person not heard of Palace Sports Entertainment. Yeah thats right the pistons own the building parking and concessions. So they make way more money that they should. I know that Davidson's daughter is now in charge and she just wants the cash. But if you are looking to buy a team and move it to your city, you would not buy the 4th most expensive team. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/32/nba08_NBA-Team-Valuations_Rank.html

Actually, Karen Davidson is the widow. And I wouldn't necessarily say "she just wants the cash" - she just doesn't have the desire to be an owner of a sports team. In the current economy I don't think it'll be a quick sale. But I hope the future owner(s) will buy the team and Palace Sports Entertainment (because it's a good idea to own the team and the arena) and keep the Pistons in Detroit.

The dash mark is supposed to be a minus sign. Also, I don't think it will happen, I just wanted to hear what people who pay attention to Michigan athletics had to say about it.

It may be a minus sign to you but when I first read it, it looked like you were using it like a colon and inferring that Pittsburgh was trying to steal the Red Wings. I became enraged and almost broke many objects in the room before I realized the context you were speaking in. Close call for me

Losing them to whiny-ass Pittsburgh would arguably be the mother of all dong-punches for the 'D'. Having said that, I doubt it would ever happen. Especially if it's Sharp's idea.

and barely supports the Pirates. How in god's name does anyone figure that market could or would support an NBA team? It's pretty ridiculous from a business perspective. Was this article originally found on the Bleacher Report?
