OT: Pistons firing Kuester? UPDATE (DetNews): No decision has been made.

Doesn't surprise me. His teams compiled a 57-107 record in 2 seasons under his direction and no playoff berths. Hope the new candidates have head coaching experience. No word on whether Dumars will be retained, but it seems likely at this point.
EDIT:
Not official yet according to team sources: http://www.detnews.com/article/20110529/SPORTS0102/105290333/Pistons-sources-refute-report-that-coach-John-Kuester-is-out
No brainer. I'm not sure who was worse.....him or Curry. Neither one seemed to be much of a leader or motivator.
Doesn't matter who the coach is until washed-up guys like Rip, Tayshaun, Ben and McGrady are out of the locker room. They need to go before they contaminate Monroe, Daye and Jerebko.
Tayshaun and Rip are producing the same per-minute stats as they have their entire careers. They aren't washed up.

McGrady can only be credited for making the ultimate adjustment from ball-dominant scoring swingman to facilitating point guard.
Ben Wallace is 36 years old. His DPOY days are behind him but it's still incredible that he's capable of starting for a team at this point in his career.
Ill be glad for you guys to trade Rip so Cleveland can buy him out and then sign with Chicago. Oh how it'll look with a SG that can actually shoot.
Curry was worse. Remember that he started the season with small-ball and had Tayshaun at the 4 and Rip at the 3, but didn't up the tempo any. He also completely fucked around with Iverson's and Hamilton's roles and rendered the AI trade completely useless.
Hello Phil Jackson.
They are gonna re-hire Rick Carlilse (I prolly spelled that wrong, but I'm lazy today, sue me)
He definitely will leave the possible NBA champion Mavericks to come to our disaster of a team, without a single first round pick either.
To come back to a team that fired him for not making it further than the ECF.
They fired Carlisle simply because the owner Bill Davidson didn't get along with him. Rick was a great coach, winning 50 games two seasons in a row with a roster full of scrubs.

It's amazing that that team even broke .500
Nice guy, but it had to be done. He lost the players.
How many coaches need to be fired before thats the player's fault though?
Or how many guys need to be hired and fired before it's all Dumars' fault? He brings in the players and the coaches.
Without pretending to do any kind of study and at the risk of talking out of my ass, Dumars may be doing the worst job of all of professional sports GMs since 2008.
Yea this franchise is a disaster right now-I'm not sure who the best choice would be...Hello Tom Izzo?
I'd say Mike Woodson, but signing or keeping guys associated with the Pistons recent glory days has done anything but show dividends.
Bottom line is this - the new coach will have his nuts cut off until the cancer (Rip, Stuckey, Wallace) is removed.
Via draft-related trades
We've seen this movie before. That Rip and Prince were both Pistons last season, despite literally dozens of widely-known trade rumors involving them over the past two years, was nothing short of remarkable. So I'll believe it when I see it.
It's widely acknowledged that Joe's hands were tied all season due to the drawn out process of selling the team. He wasn't allowed to take on additional salary or contracts longer than those he was sending out.
I worked all the pistons games for FSD, and the players did not care. They did not listen in the huddle. It was sad. I have done interviews with kuester and he is a good guy to work with. I have no idea who they go with next. Jerry Sloan? If he wants to deal with the NBA.
Who are you, man?
Hire Larry Brown again!
I honestly can see Tom Gores (MSU grad) going after Izzo. I just don't know how much Izzo will listen. After his team imploded the season after his flirtation with the Cavs, he knows if he shows any interest he essentially will have to take the job.
It's all about the players in the NBA.
Mike Brown is only a "great" coach with LeBron.
Doc was nearly fired before Ray and KG came to Boston. Now he is known as a "great" coach.
Sloan, Karl, D'Antoni and Carlisle are about the only actually good coaches left.
The NBA is so very terrible.
Is he taking Dumars with him? It feels like the Pistons need a whole new front office.
Brian Shaw please
Nowhere to go but up. Unfortunately, getting a new coach is less than half the solution.
HIRE BEILEIN
Jk please don't leave Beezer
We should'vr hired Tom Thibedeau when we had the chance...
I really want to see Izzo get interviewed for this job and for everyone to find out. We saw how his team tuned him out last year after his Cavalier Indulgence. One more NBA interview would just about render Izzo utterly ineffective. If he didn't get the job and stayed at MSU, he could struggle another five years before either he or the MSU administration finally figures out that he isn't fooling his players with his "Spartan for life" bullshit anymore.
