offer you money for doing very little. Take it, always take it.

Not really sure why some people can't understand that him pitching and then giving the money to charity isn't considered the "right thing" for him. He should be applauded, not told how to do the right thing. The guy has morals and is being a good human being.

I read an article yesterday that said how he missed it. I felt bad for the guy, but he did get 2 different 125k bonuses during the year for hitting innings milestones. That said, I don't know what I would have done in his position today. I would want to go get that 500k, but he is making 7.15 million dollars this year. If this means people don't think he's greedy, that's one way to go about it and I commend him for it.

I can't imagine being offered that much money.

He might be making sure he preserves his record K/walk rate. Another walk w/o a K and he wouldn't have the record. Name in history books >> relatively small sum of money for him.

He needed to get this takin care of earlier. He waited to the end and it rained on his parade. I guess I admire him for not pitching this weekend. On the other hand it doesn't seem very bright to turn it down a half mil.

How about softshoes with 10 mgopoints per year. And I thought I was bad in that category.

He's the anti-Grantham.

I've lurked for a long time working on my spelling and puctuation. I finally feel I can post now.

On a 3 year 24 million dollar contract this Phil Hughes.
He'll be okay; he can still make it rain.

a rich person "needs" more money less than a poorer person needs more money

Why 210 innings and not just 200? That's a weird threshold.
September 25th, 2014 at 7:40 PM ^
At 180, 195, and 210.
[Edit: the 180 and 195 thresholds received separate, smaller bonuses.]
September 25th, 2014 at 7:56 PM ^
Probably because 210 innings works out to 30 starts of 7 innings a piece, both of which are signs of a good season by a starting pitcher.
