(OT?) Phil Brabbs Good News
Just saw in the Daily that Phil Brabbs participated in the alumni game today and appears to be in remission. I'm not an oncologist, and I don't play one on TV, but here's what he had to say for those of you that might be: “I’ve been off chemo for a couple months, but the cancer’s 97 percent gone... Possibly this week I might get a clean response, no cancer detectable."
Sounds like good news to me, and that's certainly the tone of the article.

PS I looked and didn't see this but if it is feel free to neg bang away (they don't work anymore, bwahaha)
I imagine he feels a little like the guy at 5:55:
Amazing that this kick remains amongst so many great Michigan memories-I never imagined he would crush that ball the way he did and split the uprights. "Cult Hero"-damn straight!
It was my sophomore year. And I remember thinking as they lined up, "there is absolutely no way he makes this kick." The kickers had already shanked several kicks during the game from considerably closer than 44 yards.
And then commenced the WOOOOOO.
I was a little kid sitting in that endzone, row 11. Great kick, after both kickers had missed a few.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I was terrified when Brabbs lined up to kick for a game winning FGs. Just for that one kick, Brabbs have that one moment that he will always cherish for the rest of his life even though if he had made one FG, it wouldn't have come down to it. His days went from terrible to a great day in one kick.
He became Michigan's kickoff specialist and he did a fine job of booting the ball to the endzone. Hope he's doing okay in recovery!
Well called and well played Mr. Brabbs.
Love that highlight. Thanks for posting Blue.
Great news. And I don't think anyone will neg you. Can't post enough good news
I will never ever neg anything like this. If we want to make 100 posts about someone recovering from cancer it will never get old!
Phil Brabbs started my love of the Wolverines, he was from my dad's hometown and we had just moved to Ann Arbor the week before the Washington game. I remember as a kid thinking it was soooo cool that some guy from Midland just hit the game-winning field goal.
I really hope everything goes great for him. He's truely taken a scary thing and made nothing but positive out of it with the whole 'Dominating Cancer' stuff.
He is what a Michigan Man is all about!
I'm sure he does Blue. I hope that he beats his cancer. It was good to watch that clip. How they all ran on to the field towards Brabbs. Awesome feeling for him.
I was sitting at about the 15-20 yd line and the kick was to the endzone right in front of me. It was also the 1st game ever for my buddy that has since been to many games w me.
The other thing I'll remember is walking out of the stadium and a bunch of students were singing a made up song: 'you had 12 men on the field, you had 12 men on the field'.
Those Who Stay Will Be Champions.
Not even close to being OT.
Clearly not OT

Great, great news. Not OT at all.
SO great to hear about this. I was at that game and only 12 years old. What a fantastic finish, and way to deal with adversity by Brabbs. I think I remember him running the ball once or twice too. On fakes obviously. Correct me if I'm wrong. If not that game, maybe one of the others that season.
