OT: Pharaoh Brown suspended for his role in a snowball fight

Submitted by m1817 on

Oregon has suspended Pharaoh Brown for the Valero Alamo Bowl for his role in a snowball fight.

Oregon players reportedly organized the snowball fight and more than 100 students participated.

They started out having good fun, it kind of went to a mob mentality.

This should be a question on every drivers license exam.

"You've stopped your car on a side street. A kid stands a few feet in front of your car and lobs snowballs at your windshield. What do you do?

A. Wait for him to move out of the way.

B. Step out of the car and ask him to move out of the way.

C. Step on the gas. He'll move."

Simmons figured students would cease fire if he stepped out of the car and they saw a 68-year old retiree standing in front of them.

They didn’t.

“I just decided maybe if I get out, they’ll see that I’m 60 years old and I’m a human being,” Simmons said.

The moment he opened his car door, Oregon tight end Pharaoh Brown tossed a bucket-full of snow into Simmons’ face.

Are you fucking stupid or something?  Do you want a bucket full of snow tossed into your car when you're driving to work?  Or as this former professor was, to DONATE artwork to the school?  They were pegging the snowballs at the windows pretty hard as well.  I hope your father is treated this way someday, maybe you'll learn some empathy.

He didnt have to get out of the car, but he did. So it is HIS fault for the behavior of the jackasses? They should be held to a higher standard than a 12 year old. When I was a kid, we pelted cars with snowballs, and when one would pull over we ran our asses off to not get caught. I think I was in 6th grade and I knew it was not ok. But when you are a football player at a major program, you think you can do what you want. That was not just guys having fun. They are adults, or close enough to it to evaluate right from wrong.

Getting hit with a hard packed snowball is like getting hit with a rock.  I've been covered with bruises after snowball fights in the Arb and have seen my fair share of black eyes and bloody noses too.  Give it up.  The students were being assholes.

May as well give it up. You are talking to people who have been told their entire lives they are victims of something. You could hit them with a pillow and they'd call the police for assault. Just that kind of people.

I find it funny you're chastising someone for being an internet tough guy while you're defending these Oregon players actions on the internet, and just said you'd throw snow balls at all of us

You guys act like I said I'm going to do bodily harm to you... I said I was going to throw a snow ball at you... I guess around these parts "dem iz fightin wordz" Come on guys really? I'm sorry I stepped out of line there... If you'd like me to tone it down a bit, I can do that. Perhaps I could throw some marshmallows instead? You guys act like you were all victimized by a snowball. Welcome to MGoBlog where we whine and cry over the littlest crap. Look guys seriously I love this place, and I love you all... But sometimes we are just not going to agree ok? Just another guy with a keyboard, just like you. You all realize, that this... Is a message board. And like, people have opinions... And like, sometimes you won't like them.

The problem isn't so much a difference of opinion as it is you have demonstrated a neanderthal attitude this whole time and have been wholly misinformed on basic facts.

But jeez , you guys are a rough crowd. What did will Campbell get from Hoke for the dukes of hazard bit? I honestly don't remember, but he was looking at felony charges...

Wow.  It's the fucking Internet.  It's not like they physically assaulted you.  Clearly there is a discussion going on, what do you expect driving right through it?  People are so temperamental.  #LightenUpFrancis

I find it utterly hilarious that you're whining about being the victim of a herd mentality after taking the side of the herd.  How funny.  Maybe it's not so exciting having a mob gang up on you after all.  And these are just words on a screen; I'd hate to see how your thin-skinned ass would respond if you were the guy in the car.

I wouldn't have been such a puss about snow being thrown... Lol I'm not siding with the herd? The overwhelming opinion here is that snow ball throwing makes you an evil communist. And being ganged up on? Were you picked on in school or something? I feel bad for you if you were, honestly. But come on see the lighter side of this, it's snow.

College kids throw snowballs.  Go figure.  So, just because a few people didn't have a sense of humor, what used to be a standard on every snowy campus in the US has been escalated by the media into an "incident."

I wasn't aware that pouring buckets of snow on 68 year old men was a "standard on every snowy campus in the US."

I guess I've really been missing out these past 4 years, gotta go find some senior citizens to pour snow on before I graduate.

Gotta love the political correctness here by evrryone calling it a mob mentality, when anyone truthful knows that it was a bunch of matriarchs with no code.
