Bob Todd has been around forever. Now, according to Chris Webb of BuckeyeNine and Buckeye State Baseball, he'll be retiring from Ohio State. He told his players after their game today.
This leaves an interesting coaching search. Todd was the highest paid coach in the Big Ten over the last two years. God help us if Pat Murphy, formerly of Arizona State, and before that, the coach that rebuilt Notre Dame into a national power in the early 90s. Other interesting candidates include several other coaches from the D1 ranks in Ohio, including Kent State's Scott Stricklin (although he is a KSU alum).
Chris also floated the idea of OSU poaching Tracy Smith from Indiana. OSU has the money and Smith is one of the best coaches in the midwest. Not sure they can pull him from Indiana, especially with IU's new stadium on the way.
