OT - OSU students tear gassed by police
According to three user-conglomerated sites, OSU students partying in their annual "Woodfest" (i.e. a large block party) were pepper-sprayed / tear-gassed / hit with batons by police. Defenders of the police's actions argue that the OSU students started throwing things at the police (which I would believe to be true without proof).

Officers attempted to clear the streets with a chemical substance, when several bottles were thrown at the officers. Columbus police reported that three officers sustained injuries and that several people were arrested.
Giesige said he saw one police cruiser attempt to drive east on Woodruff, when he encountered hundreds of people blocking the way. Giesige said he saw people jumping on the car and throwing bottles and cans at the police cruiser.

OSU students and tear gas have a very long history together.
I've never seen a pepper spray cannon before. Hope the cop was downwind from the spray!
I was in the MMB at the 2002 M/OSU game. OSU won and their fans stormed the field. Their students climbed on the south goalpost in an attempt to bring it down; they were summarily brought down off the post with the pepper spray cannon. The only bright spot of the day was watching OSU students fall off the goalpost like flies who had been sprayed with Raid.
I thought it said "MSU students..."
I guess old reading habits die hard.
These large block parties aren't just students. A couple of years ago on Halloween a couple of thugs from somewhere in Washtenaw County came down and starting throwing bottles at students and viciously assaulted someone. Luckily, a student was able to capture it on their camera phone and the guys were eventually arrested.
Unfortunatly I was in Columbus this weekend, and was a few blocks away from the block party. From what I could see the police were totally justified, all I could hear for a while were sirens and breaking bottles. My friends couldn't even get to the party I was at because they couldn't get passed the police.
-When using OC spray the guy using it almost always gets some of it themselves.
-When showering afterwards you MUST take care on where the water goes because it will spread/reflash, be mindful to lean forward as to NOT LET THE WATER TOUCH YOUR JUNK...A man of experience.
