OT - OSU decade or USC decade 2001-2010

Submitted by ambamb on

Setting aside all the baggage that goes with OSU and USC, which decade would you have preferred to have at UM for the big two sports?

USC football won the conference multiple times and won two MNC. However, they were pretty much non-factors in basketball (or insert LSU here but LSU looks like they may be headed down in football).

OSU won multiple conference titles, one MNC, and they played for a title in basketball plus had a one seed this year and their BB future looks good.

I pick USC. they had a couple decent/good years with guys like O.J. Mayo there in basketball and they were a very good football team. Ohio State has been know to choke in the bowl games for the majority of the decade. I'm definitely going with USC.

This thread is stupid. I like hypothetical situations as much as the next guy, but to ask Michigan fans whether they would be like OSU or USC is like asking Tupac whether he would like to be Puff Daddy or the Notorious B.I.G.

I don't care how 2001-2010 went record wise.  I'm perfectly happy to be Michigan.  2-0 against Florida.  Damn good tradition, awesome helmets.

umm this is a dumb topic but anyhoo Florida won 2 NC's in football and basketball so maybe they had a better decade than tOSU or USC? maybe?

I know what you mention above is ten years, but  shouldn't the decade should be 2000-2009, with 2010 leading the new decade?  That being said, I have a good feeling about this decade.

I would say Florida over those two easily.... success both in football and basketball... Among those two USC for sure.

I still think the best football team of the past decade (ever) was the Miami 2001:

QB: Dorsey

RB: Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee (this is insane!!!!)

WR: Andre Johnson

TE: Shockey

OL: Gonzalez, McKinnie and Bibla

Oh yeah, also a ton on D such as Jonathan Vilma, Ed Reed, Phillip Buchanon, DJ Williams.

My post was prompted by the "end of the Michigan hating God" thread that stated its over when football is back. There was no mention of BB. Wanted to know where others were w.r.t. BB.

Florida did rock the last ten years, any school would have liked that performance.

While we're choosing fantasy scenarios, I choose "OSU and USC vacating all of their MNC's in the 'aughts' for the major violations both schools have worked so hard to cover up."

Clarett handed OSU to the NCAA on the proverbial silver platter, but death threats apparently kept him from actually saying anything to NCAA investigators.  So, even though he admitted he should have been academically ineligible during their MNC season, the NCAA did absolutely nothing to them.  As for USC, I am hoping they vacate theirs as part of impending NCAA sanctions,  but my cynical side doesn't see it happening.

I really wish the NCAA would either enforce the rulebook equally or throw it out.

I'd have to say USC. They have 2 football NC's and beat OSU head-to-head twice. Sure in basketball they weren't as good but they were respectable. OSU started the decade out well winning a NC but since then has become known as a choke team on the big stage in both sports.

Let me choose any team and I too would choose UF for success in both sports.

I think many posters are missing the point of this thread but thats just my opinion.
