The battle between the populist money making Avatar and the artsy lowest grossing potential winner with the awards should be interesting, not only for best picture, but Cinematography and Sound categories. Original Screenplay looks like a toss up with Inglourious Basterds, and Foreign Film's The White Ribbon seems like a good bet too, as does the Chinese Movie in Short Documentary. But who ever knows in those small categories? Should be interesting.
OK, back to basketball, back here later...
I can't believe Hurt Locker is in the running for best picture. It was pretty good, but I didn't think it was *that* good. Felt like another cavalier action/war movie.
Hollywood loves it because it is a war movie directed by a woman.
I haven't seen enough movies this year to say if any one was "The Best" but as for the Hurt Locker, man, I don't think I've ever seen a movie so fundamentally nihilistic as that one. I found it very impressive in its portrayal of meaninglessness.
I don't mind the Hurt Locker, but Inglorious Basterds doesn't belong on the list,IMO.
EPIC! John Madden's got nothing on him.
Hey, where's Sexy Backdoor Milfs 4? I thought that was a clear favorite for picture of the year.
Oh wait, this isn't the AVN awards thread?
I'll see myself out.
If that animal on the back of Sarah Jessica Parker's head is feeding off her brain?
The Dude wins an Oscar!
I could agree more. The sound mixing was great in Avatar, but it didn't hold a candle to the sound editing in The Hurt Locker.
