Breaking: Water is wet
Urban knew he would be second to him and could not take it, more reason to hate Saban
Urban is an asshole, but this article just reads like sour grapes.
I agree with the facts stated but let's keep coaches wives (and families) out of it.
If you want to talk about his cat....now that's a different story...
The column was in direct response to a public statement made by Shelley Meyer. Sorry, but once she becomes "news," "keep the coach's family out of it" doesn't apply anymore.
If she wants to be kept out of it then she should stay out of it. But she didn't. You're fair game if you're making public criticisms.
The "she started it" part's already been covered, but I can't believe how delusional some of these family members can be. Anyone with a sliver of a brain should be able to see what he did.
God, I can't remember who works for that paper.
Just the Orlando Sentinal? I thought anyone with half a brain didn't like Urban.
final four playoff...I can see a fun bowl game matchup. Keep the drama going.
I would LOVE to see osu vs. Florida in the Gator Bowl, although Cap One or Outback are far more realistic,
Urban Meyer is, as far as I can see, the perfect coach for Michigan's biggest rival. He's a great game day coach and a great recruiter, so he forces Michigan to stay at the top of their game to best him in either arena, and yet he is personally pretty dispicable and petty, so you don't actually have to respect him. At the same time, I don't think he will have the success against Michigan that Tressel had, as the last coupla games showed. His hire was great for OSU and Michigan. I like that hire a lot.
Have no tolerance any more for the goddamn interstitial web ads plopped right in the middle of "content," in this case "3 veggies keeping you fat" and "BuckNaked underwear."
If, God forbid, Brian resorted to this ad scheme, my time at MGoBlog would decline by 90%.
(Maybe that would be a good thing...)

Urb thought he had stress at Florida? One false move and those buck nuts will run his ass out of town.
Note to Shelly Meyer. Never, EVER get into a pissing match with somebody in the media. They control the narrative and will always have the last word.
I do give the guy credit for decorum though. If he's going to call our Urbz ethics I'm pretty sure there was one more incident involving Mr Meyer and a young lady not named Shelly he could've brought up and didnt.
half expecting something like that to be in there. . .glad he kept that out of the article.
Because, incidentally, this isn't even the first time this author has written articles bashing Meyer. And it seems every opportunity he gets to do it again, he will, and he will get in the last word.
is Urbz's FREEP and this author is his Drew Sharp.
He won them 2 championships and then left for a big ten school ....
Guys a dick and everything brought up in the article is classless and sleazy as hell. Urbz, even at OSU constantly sells character, family and all this crap. He's a snake that only likes rules and standards when they benefit him.
"We appreciate our friends from Ohio making sure we are compliant with NCAA rules," a sarcastic Muschamp said last year when asked about Meyer reporting the Gators. "They certainly know a little bit about NCAA rules."
I remember this coming up in the past actually. Say what you will about Muschamp, he still gets a big +1 from me for this particular bit of snark.
That was a pretty nice read, I thought. Thanks for sharing that.
and a lot of this is sour grapes. They didn't want to see the ugly while Meyer was there. But as a lifelong UM fan and grad, I'll take it!
am curious to know which player Meyer and Jeremy Fowler were referring to in that confrontation... I sure as hope to heck it was Aaron Hernandez.
This is the description on the video:
"GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—With a stern look and some finger pointing, Florida coach Urban Meyer had harsh words for a reporter following spring practice Wednesday.
Meyer, speaking for the first time in a week, confronted an Orlando Sentinel reporter and defended receiver Deonte Thompson.
It was unclear why Meyer took issue with the Sentinels story.
Reporter Jeremy Fowler quoted Thompson as referring to John Brantley as a real quarterback, in comparison to Tim Tebow.
The exchange was caught on video, captured by a photographer and witnessed by a dozen or more people—including several fans leaving spring practice.
Youll be out of practice—you understand that?—if you do that again, Meyer told the reporter. I told you five years ago: Dont mess with our players. Dont do it. You did it. You do it one more time and the Orlando Sentinels not welcome here ever again. Is that clear? Its yes or no.
Meyer was reacting to a story posted on the Sentinels Web site following Mondays practice. Thompson was asked what the biggest difference was between Tebow and Brantley.
You never know with Tim, Thompson said. He can bolt. Youll think hes running, but then hell just come up and pass it to you. You just have to be ready at all times. With Brantley, everythings with rhythm, time. Like, you know what I mean, a real quarterback.
Thompson was embarrassed by the remark and the attention it got, mostly because he likes Tebow and never wanted to say anything negative about him.
Meyer, who has praised Thompson for being a good student, a hard worker and a player who has not gotten into any trouble, eventually got word of Thompsons distress and relayed his concern to school officials. The school responded by canceling post-practice interviews Wednesday.
But as reporters were hanging around following the session, Meyer walked over to the group and began the exchange with Fowler.
Youre a bad guy, man. Youre a bad guy, Meyer said. If that was my son, wed be going at it right now.
Meyer turned and walked away, then met his daughter on the practice field and pointed back at the reporter. He also avoided reporters by leaving through another exit.
Team spokesman Steve McClain declined comment."
I like how Urbz negatively recruited against Florida saying they have locker room issues a year after he left. That is just as laughable as it gets.
Urban is one of those people who just have no doubt! that his poop smells like roses.
for awhile i wondered why we didnt hire him while at utah... A Midwestern coach with great recruiting ties... Even he had an out in his contract for michigan along with OSU and ND. But i gotta think that carr wasnt petty, that we didnt get Meyer because they knew of this aspect of him. they dropped the ball on Harbaugh...maybe On dantonio too. i hope they passed on Meyer for the right reason
It's pretty clear the Urbz is a win-at-all-costs kinda guy, but this just comes off as sour grapes to me. Unless the writer was complaining about this stuff while he was still at UF (at least the lack of discipline and looking the other way when big time players screwed up), then all these complaints ring hollow. I'm sure some people were bringing this up during his tenure, but I didn't hear much about it. Having said all that, I still really, really dislike Meyer.
That article was one of the sharpest you've ever read? Could that have something to do with you blinding bias towards Urban Meyer? Because the article contained ZERO substance and no facts, so if it was one of the sharpest you've ever read then you're quite the mental midget.
but I didn't say anything to the effect of substance as much as how vituperative the language was against Urban (or his wife for that matter).
One more thing: Are you sure I have a bias toward Urban Meyer? If I have any bias at all, it is most assuredly against Urban Meyer. So the next time you feel compelled to insult anyone's intelligence with some nonsensical trolling comment, at least make sure it's phrased properly.
