OT: Open Thread Thursday Football

Submitted by MAgoBLUE on

I usually root for Auburn as my team in the SEC but since Dee Hart is considering both UM and Auburn I will be pulling for Miss State to win tonight.  Anyone else feel the same way?

BTW, it kills me that the game is at Miss State and I'll be rooting along with a stadium full of cow bell ringing morons.

Mississippi State is an up and coming program.  They play exciting football and should give Auburn all they can handle.  I do think Auburn is an overall better team so I think they'll probably pull it out.  Anything that can help us with Dee Hart I am on board with so I, to, will be pulling for the bulldogs.

At least, that's the game I'll be watching tonight. I hate BRETT FARVE (I know, favre) and his diva act.

OP - make this an open thread for tonights games? NFL and the SEC one you have up? And Go Miss. State!

EDIT - thanks OP, should be some good football on tonight

If Mississippi State wins, it's because the SEC has so much depth. If Auburn wins, it's because the SEC has so many great teams. It's a lose-lose, but I'd like to see Mullen turn the Bulldogs into something great.

i've always like Miss St....even though their screw up in the 2nd half helped Tenn get the title in 98...on the flip side though at least it was post Manning when it happened.

I hope so, but that scares the crap out of me too that PSU could be good enough to beat Alabama.  If PSU wins or loses we still have to play them.  If Alabama wins we stand a chance of having to play them in the MNC.  The question is whether or not we want to play Alabama as to who you want to win. One can be optimistic.

They have been the best conference for the last five years or so and they deserve their accolades.  I have no problem with their being rated higher than the Big Ten if they deserve it, and I have no problem with the Big Ten having to "raise their game" so they don't have to hear about it.

Besides, the Big Ten will overtake the SEC, possibly as soon as next year.  Why?

1.  Michigan will be back and better than any time since the 40's.

2.  Hellooooo, Nebraska.

3.  Iowa and Wiscy are sustaining a much better level than they used to.

4.  The influence of RR has brought spread and speed to the Big Ten.

5.  The decline of Tennessee.

6.  The smaller decline of Georgia.

To to the opposite of what I usually do and make a long story short, next year the Big Ten will be deeper, faster, and better on the top end than it has been for a long time.   By next year, they will be as good or better than the SEC.    The addition of Nebraska will "even up" the bowl matchups, so we will be seeing this on the field soon.

Quick question... I know this is kind of off topic, but i noticed a title on GBW which said "Has Dee Hart had a change of Heart?" it's a paid link so I couldn't read it, but was wondering if anyone with a subscription could give me the general gist of the article?

Heres the link btw:

Rooting for Auburn, as that's where my money is tonight, lol

To the O.P.  MAgoBloue.......root for Auburn's Michael Dyer to blow shit up. He's a true frosh. Dee Hart wont go there if there's a true sophomore 1,300 yard rusher in tow.

Staying away from the NFL game, just gonna sit back and enjoy the pros being back. Maybe I'll throw a teaser with the Saints and Temple or something, I dont know. Options a-plenty.

I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be aganist Hampton last week. Offense looked sloppy and inconsistent at times. However the D did look solid. Temple struggled with Villanova last week but they could be one of the top teams in 1-AA. We will learn a lot more about both teams tonight.

Just saw the pics of the Brady accident on the NBC NFL pre-game.  More than a fender bender but apparently all okay - the van is pretty trashed.
