OT: Open Thread Thursday Football
I usually root for Auburn as my team in the SEC but since Dee Hart is considering both UM and Auburn I will be pulling for Miss State to win tonight. Anyone else feel the same way?
BTW, it kills me that the game is at Miss State and I'll be rooting along with a stadium full of cow bell ringing morons.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:06 PM ^
Mississippi State is an up and coming program. They play exciting football and should give Auburn all they can handle. I do think Auburn is an overall better team so I think they'll probably pull it out. Anything that can help us with Dee Hart I am on board with so I, to, will be pulling for the bulldogs.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:12 PM ^
At least, that's the game I'll be watching tonight. I hate BRETT FARVE (I know, favre) and his diva act.
OP - make this an open thread for tonights games? NFL and the SEC one you have up? And Go Miss. State!
EDIT - thanks OP, should be some good football on tonight
September 9th, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
I hate that man. If I had a gun honestly I would shoot him. Him and everyone else on that team.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
What's wrong with cowbell?
September 9th, 2010 at 5:10 PM ^
cowbell should only be used for medicinal purposes
September 9th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
look, when I get up in the morning, I put my pants on 1 leg at a time. But once my pants are on, I make gold records.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:40 PM ^
More cowbell?
September 9th, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
for reminding me this game was tonight.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
If Mississippi State wins, it's because the SEC has so much depth. If Auburn wins, it's because the SEC has so many great teams. It's a lose-lose, but I'd like to see Mullen turn the Bulldogs into something great.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:15 PM ^
I, for some reason, really like Auburn. I always have. HOWEVA, tonight I'll be cheering on Mississippi State.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:20 PM ^
Fine looking ladies attend Auburn.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
No doubt Marvin. I've also noticed that for years. I can't believe all the beautiful southern belles in the stands everytime I see an Auburn home game. Don't really go for the confederate politics but the women are a different story!
September 9th, 2010 at 5:28 PM ^
I think you can say that for all of the SEC. Hate the conference for football, but love the ladies. BTW, not to get off topic. Maybe its just me, but Heather Cox at the BSU/VT game was looking really good.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
I'll be pulling for Auburn, I'm not a big fan of anything in Mississippi (although that said Alabama isn't much better).
September 9th, 2010 at 5:25 PM ^
IIRC, CMU vs. Temple on ESPN2 is tonight as well
September 9th, 2010 at 5:33 PM ^
ESPNU*
September 9th, 2010 at 5:32 PM ^
i've always like Miss St....even though their screw up in the 2nd half helped Tenn get the title in 98...on the flip side though at least it was post Manning when it happened.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
So what is with the scout article that Dee Hart may have had a change of mind???
September 9th, 2010 at 5:51 PM ^
The title and description of the article are both questions which can be answered with a firm no.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:06 PM ^
I saw that too and got a little worried. Then figured that Sam has a gut feeling and works at GBW and writing the story, maybe it was nothing. Will wait to see what he says on WTKA tomorrow morning.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:43 PM ^
Penn State will beat Alabama.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
seriously you crazy
September 9th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
I hope so, but that scares the crap out of me too that PSU could be good enough to beat Alabama. If PSU wins or loses we still have to play them. If Alabama wins we stand a chance of having to play them in the MNC. The question is whether or not we want to play Alabama as to who you want to win. One can be optimistic.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:45 PM ^
I have trouble rooting for an SEC team, even when I'm telling myself, I'm actually just rooting against another SEC team.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
They have been the best conference for the last five years or so and they deserve their accolades. I have no problem with their being rated higher than the Big Ten if they deserve it, and I have no problem with the Big Ten having to "raise their game" so they don't have to hear about it.
Besides, the Big Ten will overtake the SEC, possibly as soon as next year. Why?
1. Michigan will be back and better than any time since the 40's.
2. Hellooooo, Nebraska.
3. Iowa and Wiscy are sustaining a much better level than they used to.
4. The influence of RR has brought spread and speed to the Big Ten.
5. The decline of Tennessee.
6. The smaller decline of Georgia.
To to the opposite of what I usually do and make a long story short, next year the Big Ten will be deeper, faster, and better on the top end than it has been for a long time. By next year, they will be as good or better than the SEC. The addition of Nebraska will "even up" the bowl matchups, so we will be seeing this on the field soon.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
I hate the SEC
September 9th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
Quick question... I know this is kind of off topic, but i noticed a title on GBW which said "Has Dee Hart had a change of Heart?" it's a paid link so I couldn't read it, but was wondering if anyone with a subscription could give me the general gist of the article?
Heres the link btw:

Rooting for Auburn, as that's where my money is tonight, lol
To the O.P. MAgoBloue.......root for Auburn's Michael Dyer to blow shit up. He's a true frosh. Dee Hart wont go there if there's a true sophomore 1,300 yard rusher in tow.
Staying away from the NFL game, just gonna sit back and enjoy the pros being back. Maybe I'll throw a teaser with the Saints and Temple or something, I dont know. Options a-plenty.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:50 PM ^
A day early, but why on earth is Houston playing a game with a 9:15pm LOCAL start time? How much money do you think ESPN offered them to start so late?
September 9th, 2010 at 7:01 PM ^
Probably more than they could make through ticket sales.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
Not as much as Texas Tech got to play SMU in the middle of the afternoon. One of my co-workers told me they actually subbed the QB because they were worried he'd get heat stroke. Ugh.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:55 PM ^
GO CHIPS!!! (for some reason I have always like Central Michigan)
September 9th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be aganist Hampton last week. Offense looked sloppy and inconsistent at times. However the D did look solid. Temple struggled with Villanova last week but they could be one of the top teams in 1-AA. We will learn a lot more about both teams tonight.
September 9th, 2010 at 7:44 PM ^
Their big screen is definitely big.

Just saw the pics of the Brady accident on the NBC NFL pre-game. More than a fender bender but apparently all okay - the van is pretty trashed.
September 9th, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
Son of a....I thought Arrington was about to score the first touchdown of the year for sure.

That shovel pass was beautiful.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:13 PM ^
Ballard just plowed those Auburn guys.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:14 PM ^
Fat man touchdown for MSU! #61 with the ball.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:15 PM ^
That Miss St. QB is one lucky man.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:23 PM ^
That Temple/CMU 1st half was ugly.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:26 PM ^
That interception by MSU was insane. How is that guy not a WR? What a catch.
/delay'd response
September 9th, 2010 at 8:30 PM ^
Stupidly thought this had to do with the NFL game
Forgot about college football tonight on the same night
Sorry
September 9th, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^

September 9th, 2010 at 8:50 PM ^
Cam Newton has the goods. And Denard is the truth
Should be a fun Sugar Bowl.
Wait, wut?
September 9th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
