OT - The Open Championship Day 2 Thread
Nobody putting anything really impressive together so far. Looks like the R & A may have heeded Phil's advice a little with regard to the green speed/length along with pin placements. I think they were thinking that there was literally going to be no wind yesterday and they needed to prevent somebody from posting a ridiculously good score early and running away with the thing. The wind is coming up a little today though. Dustin Johnson is an interesting development, but I still think that Old Tom Morris has got to be the favorite going into the weekend. Watched 90 minutes of live sports before leaving for work. Only at the Open.

thread will likely not get much traction today. Friday is the easiest day of a golf tournament to ignore so I assume the discussion will be limited. I will talk golf any time though, and will be streaming this thing all day. I think -1 will be within striking distance anyway. I don't see the leader being more than -6 under as things harden up.
I'm sure there are plenty of golf fans who read MGoBlog, but surprise at the lack of comments in this thread. I have grown a great appreciation for the sport over the past five years.
Anyway. Rory, yet again, is sucking hard core. He needs to dump his tennis girlfriend and get back to focusing on his game because there is no way in hell he will continue being ranked number two. Most of the players who teed off this afternoon (Scotland time of course) are playing terribly, which is all good for Tiger.
Tiger's even par looks a lot better after the late pairings came in.
If the course continues to play super tough in the afternoons, it should be an interesting weekend for the leaders. I doubt anyone will put together 2 "great" rounds.
This all probably favors someone who can grind it out and make few mistakes. That seems to have been Miguel and Tiger for the first two days, but who puts it together for the weekend? DJ is the big wildcard - he's 2 under after 2, but has 5 fewer pars on his cards than Miguel.
It's the finest, fairest golf course I have ever played. If I had to pick just one golf course for the rest of my days, it would be the Honourable Company.
Frank Nobilo was right tonight in his Golf Channel commentary. The greens are too fast. Tricky-fast; par-protecting fast.
