OT: online betting sites

Submitted by Zone Read Left on

I've never done any online betting before, but with the NCAA tournament coming up I feel like placing a couple of small ($5 or $10) bets. What are everyone's favorite betting sites? Are they safe/reliable and easy to get the money if you win? Thanks.

"And?"

"And if I win, I wanna get paid. No schemes to keep me betting."

"I got guys coming in here dropping 10, 20 thousand dollars all the time. Why should I waste time with you?"

Or... something like that. I only saw the movie once.

(In other words, I don't know.)

One of my best friends was pretty big into sports betting while he was in school (not a problem or anything, just loved it). His site of choice was betus.com. He didn't had a problem getting his money out, but if I remember he hasn't gotten back on since college because they have a minimum balance to start. They use PayPal, I think.

A friend of mine uses Betus, and one small drawback for someone like the OP is that they require a certain threshold number for you to withdraw money from your account(I think $100). Also, it's run by some crazy Indians up in Canada, and contacting them is somewhat of a pain in the ass.

Betus has a little rollover restriction.  If you sign up and get a bonus, like $50 deposit gets you $100.  You have to risk and/or win that amount before you can withdrawl, and they take the lower amount too.

So if you deposited $50 and got $50 in rollover, you would have to either lose 50, or win more than 50 before you can withdrawl.

May not sound like a big deal, if you make a big deposit and get a high rollover number it can be a huge PITA.

While in college. They always paid out if I won, and never had an issue with them stealing from me, although this was 6-8 years ago and I don't even know if the site exists. Just be careful whatever you do, I figured it out one day with all of the small bets that I had made and lost over 5 years in school that I was down about $9000 total. It can add up quick if you arent careful.

I see what you mean,  but if your only looking for 5- 10 dollar bets you could always just look for a few friends that would be willing to bet on a game.

BetUS is my site of choice but they do have some weird quirks which I find ridiculous.

If you take deposit bonuses you have to complete a rollover to be able to cash out.  See info here https://www.betus.com/about-us/member-benefits.aspx which means that if you deposit $100 you will get a bonus of I think $10 in free play.  That sounds great right?  Wrong!  In order to be able to get a release to cash out you must have a 3-time rollover meaning you will have to wager $300 before your account is cleared of a bonus hold.  What's worse is if you bet on a straight line game (ie odds of team A winning are -200 and team B winning are +150) you only get the lower of the amount bet and amount won.  This would mean if I bet $100 on this game on team A and won I would receive $50, and the amount counted towards my rollover bonus is only $50 (not the $100 I bet).  My recommendation...don't take any bonuses when you deposit.  It's a ploy to keep the money within the system as long as they can so you can lose it.  Just forgo the $10 bet and bet your own money and have no restrictions.

There will be fees to cash out.  So don't think if you deposit $100 and try to withdraw it the next day you will be getting $100 back but I'm sure that's standard on these sites.

That being said I made $500 the last time I played so it's well worth it if you know what you are doing and/or get lucky on a few big parlay bets like I did.  My suggestion, bet $5 on Michigan to win the tournie at +25000.  A $5 bet wins you $1250

If you're looking to just have some fun with it (without losing your money)... then you should check out "cent sports" (use the link below and I'll get a little kick-back). They spot you 10 cents to get you started and then you just use your winnings to keep betting. There's literally no risk - and you can eventually take money out if you win enough. It's really just for fun.
