OT - Olympics Day 8 (Live/Spoilers)

Submitted by MGoBender on

Lithuania just hit a 3 to go up two with 6 to go.  Now up 2 with 5:45 to go.

Some pretty terrible defense by USA throughout.  That and poor three point shooting have made this one a barn burner.

EDIT: US pulls away after finally hitting some threes.

EDIT 2: Changed title to cover all Olympics for the day.

And how about Serena making Sharapova look silly?

What I want to know is, why the hell were they showing track and field heats on NBC while the best damned basketball team on Earth playing its most exciting game thus far in the tournament got relegated to one of the crap side networks???

More pile on the FAIL.

That said, it's good to see this LTU national team, during a down cycle, still has some fire in it. Beat the hell out of Tunisia and they most likely get a shot at their former occupiers: the filthy, degenerate Muscovite Rus. Not a bad road to a medal chance, I vouch.

Shows it 24 hours a day and will probably replay the whole thing 3 times. That, and track and field is a signature Olympic sport, and Olympic basketball has pretty much become a joke since everyone started taking their pros.

I hear you. If you have cable, then you have a channel that is dedicated to olympic basketball that runs 24/7 during the olympics (i know both att uverse and directv have this channel).

I am having to watch track online because none of nbc's channels show the distance events without commercial interruption. At one point in the men's 10K they cut away after showing a single lap.

As most statements made by the heart and not the head are. It's not that he's going to beat the best, but that some guy who would have gotten a chance to race, or medal, won't because his "legs" are lighter, less tiring, and allow longer push off. If in coming years we can make the bionic man, it shouldn't be excused because his space capsule crashed in a horrible accident. It's supposed to be human achievement, not technological.

But I think Ranomi Kromowidjojo is all kinds of hot. Might be leading my favorite non-American athlete. *women with broader shoulders than me just don't do it for me usually. However, if I was really in shape I think I'd want to HAVE a swimmers' body, over a body builder or track guy, football player, etc.

But unlike her fellow runners she has a body that I wish some of our linebackers had. At least when they take away the silver it won't hurt as much as the gold. The Jamacian lady seems nice (edit: thogh she was suspended or doping in 2010...God track is so slimy). But NBC- do a feature on a foreign athlete right before the race and you're kinda giving away who will win it.
