OT: Olympic Competition Day 13 (you know how the spoiler thing works by now, right?)

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Women's Volleyball going up against S. Korea right now (oh, the battles in the CRex household - and hey, Korean handball at noon!), and then a bunch of other stuff...early track, synch. swimming and ribbon gymnastics. Pretty type stuff. But Water polo women at 1:30, and the I'm sure to be popular around here soccer game at 2:15. Not a bad day all around.

(I almost thought about turning the Brian on WTKA thread into this, but the first few posts would have been awfully weird...)

Usain Bolt wins pretty easily, letting up at the end. 19.32 sec.  Yohan Blake 2nd and Weir of Jamaica 3rd giving them a sweep.

Bolt is absolutely amazing, lightning quick, dare I say he is usanely fast.

Bo got a shout-out during the Water Polo match as they were raving about Mary Armstrong--mentioned that her personal motto is "Those who stay will be champions" which the announcers correctly attributed to Bo. Also said her dad is a prof at Michigan in IOE.

I get a little tired of hearing the soccer announcers go on about how Wembley Stadium is the "spiritual home of the game" and all that.  If it were the old Wembley, OK, but this stadium is only five years old and is nothing like the old one.

I'm mad that NBC showed a highlight tape of US women's soccer instead of the fourth quarter of a live semifinal US vs Australia semifinal women's basketball game. Show your highlight reels when there aren't live games going on that directly impact the team's medal count!

FWIW, i was up this morning and caught some of the NBC morning show, the hosts were interviewing the ladies of Team USA gymnastics... NBC hosts made a point to say on air somthing to the effect of "they now want to be known as the Fierce Five since they learned that the name Fab Five had already been taken by players from the University of Michigan basketball team"

about damn time NBC caught on.... props to the girls for forcing their hand a bit...
