OT: Ohio HS Hockey Championship 6 OTs
Figured I would squeeze this in before we watch our boys close out the regular season. My alma mater, Sylvania Northview, is facing St. Ignatius in the championship game.
It is currently the longest game in OHSAA history. They're starting the 6th overtime still tied up at 1-1. Northview's goalie, David Marsh, currently has 63 saves.
Game started at 2PM. Jordan Strack from WTOL is trying his best to update via Twitter.

EDIT: Now entering 8th overtime. 11th Period...
Geez. They've gotta be moving in slow motion at this point. Always root for Toledo area teams though.
How long are the high school OT periods?
The OTs are 8 minutes. NV's goalie unofficially has 74 saves.
Going to the 7th OT so its the 10th period
The Nationwide videoboard can't flip to a 10th period.... pic.twitter.com/yNtnXjzUBg

8th OT will start soon
2nd longest game in US high school hockey history. In 1955, two Minnesota teams played 11 OTs
79-27 shot differential. St. Ignatius dominating the shot ratio. 2 minutes until 8th overtime starts.
I got this game on the radio: http://www.nhsbn.com/play/index.cfm?fuseaction=embstay&id=4323237381
And watching the Michigan game on mute right now.
Both teams declared state champions!
You have to admire the efforts of both teams, but to call it a tie after 8OTs (or is it 7) it feels a bit underwhelming.
As much as I hate penalty shootouts, I would think that a shootout would be a better alternative than co-champions
Student sections from both sides are chanting "Let them play!"
There's a joke in here somewhere about Ohioans not being able to finish
Probably wise to call it a tie. The sports fan in us wants them to duke it out to the end but these are 14-17 yrd olds generally who were apparently cramping up a ton. You cant play till a bunch get seriously injured
/s --- I think the tie is a good call in this situation
Which coincidentally means my team was tied for State Champion Runner-up lol
