Poor guy. Hopefully he's on the phone right now arranging a FA deal.
i refuse to even consider this a possibility
Poor guy. Hopefully he's on the phone right now arranging a FA deal.
Definitely not OT. He's probably stunned right now.
Original title was "Semi-OT", but it looks like someone changed the title of my post. Oh well, no biggie, I just didn't know if mentioning members of non-Michigan alums would consider it semi-ot. Meh...
As for these guys already getting calls, I can't believe that it was that quickly after the draft ended that they were already getting FA deals. Good for them, and I hope they make the most of them. Go Blue!!
What was the issue?
Was it the workout?
Is it that kids just get seduced by agents that will tell them anything?
there's another post about this with such an informative title
Once that guy that is putting the gun to your head and making you click on MgoBlog forums leaves your house, you may wanna call the police; and change your diaper...
Wasn't Snead supposed to be a first rounder coming into the year?
IIRC espn had him listed as a possible top ten at one point. but 20 TD - 20 INT seasons don't leave you high on draft boards
EDIT: The headline has been edited. Originally it was "OT - It's Official"
i'm glad you got to capture it in time though
god bless him
Cue freep headline that this is RR's fault.
.... and that S. Brown's drafting was due to Carr, not RR. RR made him a 7th rounder and not a 3rd rounder he should of been
Wait RR made him the 7th rounder? It couldn't have had anything to do with the three different DC's he had while he was at Michigan?
was one of the big contributors to "The Horror".
Just felt a need to point that out.
I mean...there have already been a ton of examples of kids leaving before they were totally NFL ready, yet kids still leave early. I'm just wondering if there is a case of a kid going through all of the workouts without the help of an agent, and then coming back to school instead of going into the draft. I haven't heard of one, in case anyone else knows
Warren undrafted? I hadn't heard.
Hey- I didn't get drafted either and there's no thread about me. WTF?
your 8.4 40 wasn't well received at the combine
I ran a much better 40 than that, and I was really hoping it would make up for my one-half rep on the 225.
bench is one rep at 112? I know punters with a better bench!
They should have let you do the flexed arm hang instead. It is just as accurate a measure of strength.
and how is this different from DWarr's situation?
FOUR FAKES out of FIVE
You were expecting a check from Orbitz?
Special team play is a major consideration for players like DW coming into the NFL. I don't recall him doing much on specials but I could be wrong - really don't recall. If he is going to make an NFL roster at this point it is a must.
Warren returned (read: fair caught) punts for us. Though I doubt teams will have him doing the same in the NFL.
Agreed, but he will have to play on specials, both coverage and return.
It will be fun to experience the same thing with Manny during the NBA Draft. Hopefully his draft is better than Donovan's. I'm just not very optimistic about it.
Have faith, I mean who saw Tebow going in the 1st round?
Sorry for using faith & Tebow in the same sentence.
and think about what you just said.
Again, the issue was that he bombed at the combine.
Morgan Trent was probably worse on the field than Warren, but was one of the fastest and quickest CB's at the combine, and was the strongest. The NFL saw the raw tools, figured he wasn't developed, and poof - a rookie contributor on a playoff team.
Warren's 40 time was worse than 7 d-linemen and equivalent to the best offensive tackle.
You want a CB who would let a defensive end run past him?
... how much of a stats game it is when you are coming out early and have no real compelling body of work. Or body, for that matter.
Is DW just slow, or did he have a major off-day at the combine?
if what you say is true, there's at least one offensive tackle who has the potential to pick up a fumble, look over his shoulder at Donovan in pursuit, and say "ohhhh, it's in. it's in."
(obviously, ht the legendary McLovin.)
he was overrated when he played for us he only stood out because the rest of our defense with the exception of bg were horrible...he was no woodson.
He was worse than the best CB possibly in NCAA history. Insightful.
No sane person would argue that he shouldn't have stayed right now. I thought he should have stayed the moment he declared. You seem to want to suggest he's a horrible person for leaving, which is absurd.
Those who stay will be champions AND get drafted.
What was Brandon Graham Champion of? How about DeShawn Sims?
Getting degrees. Not sure if they did but they had the opportunity to. Brandon Graham was champion of destroying people and developing into an awesome human being. Sims was champion of looking high everytime he was shown on camera.
giving everything you can to your team
leading by example
trusting their coaches
shall i continue?
AWWWWWW LET DO IT
Look, I'm not saying Graham did anything wrong, or that there's nothing admirable about him, what he did, or how he played. My point is that the statement "Those who Stay will Be Champions" is empty, vacant, and useless. Warren could very well have stayed and not "been a champion". It's pablum we use to knock kids that choose to leave early.
that Champions implies success as an individual overcoming through tenacity amid adversity, i don't know what to tell you. the mantra is not about trophies, it's about being a successful person by sticking it out.
i would say that is anything but empty, vacant or useless
He is the champion of my heart.
and being a 1st rounder doesn’t suck
And you can can only be successul "as an individual overcoming through tenacity amid adversity" by staying in college for 4 years?
Again, it's being used, in this case, to insult a kid who played three years for Michigan who did what he thought was best for his life. I'm sure Bo would be proud it's used in such a fashion.
but teams had to be concerned with his work ethic after he only did 12 reps on the bench. The Space Emperor put up 16.
Zoltan should not be compared to mortals.
We are going to miss him so much next year.
Hail Space Emperor!
The whole story is that Zoltan started off w/ 16, got bored, sat up, spun the bar on his finger like a basketball, tossed it over his shoulder, and knocked an NFL observer into the hospital.
If Zoltan were not Space Emperor, there would have been a lawsuit.
ESPN this afternoon had the camera inside LeGarrette Blount's house.....Given the magnitude of stuff Blount did, not sure that was a good idea....
I am saying he turned his back on us when we needed him most, He would have been the glue again this year. If he was projected to go first round like eric berry I could have understood it. But the fact is he wasn't.
He didn't turn is back, he did what he thought was best for his life. If you begrudge him that, you're an asshole.
if you have to lead with, "I am not saying" you probably shouldn't say it… I’m just sayin
Warren signs w/ the Jets per his twitter account.
Per his twitter page, Donovan Warren signed with the New York Jets.
Jets. They can whip him into shape.
is a Bear
Hey, I actually have a reason to root for my new hometown team now.
If he can get and stay healthy, I really like this pick up!
and a manbearfreak.
RAGE on brother and hope you stay healthy.
who feels a strange desire to buy a jersey for a team i dislike/hate simply bc one of our players is on the roster?
Patriots are too bandwagon for me to buy a Brady jersey but i feel compelled at the idea of a Graham jersey. and even Mesko would be a hilarious jersey to have bc of the awesomeness. and the fact that if the aliens kidnap me (again) while wearing it, they will know i come in peace... BUT CAN DESTROY THEM AT WILL
I've heard that Ortmann, Warren and Minor got free agent looks. Who else do you think will get picked up? My guess is Grady and Matthews? I wish Warren the best but I certainly don't feel sorry for him. I'm not sure if the Jets are the best chance to make a roster since they have two of the best CB's in the game and they drafted a CB in the first round.
Graham-Eagles, Mesko-Patriots, Brown-Raiders
Warren-Jets, Minor-Bears, Mathews-Bears, Ortmann-Panthers
Grady, C. Brown, Moosman, McAvoy--not sure which of these will get picked up. Am I missing anyone?
at the risk of being flamed to a nice toasty crisp ...
Anyone know if Blair White (Sparty) has signed anywhere? I don't think he was drafted but wouldn't swear to that. He'd be a nice pickup for the LOLions.
But the NFL thread on another board I read said he got a deal with the Colts.
EDIT: Here's something.
Of course it does say he went to Michigan so who the fuck knows if the site is reliable.
This site has been reliable in the past for all your UDFA needs.
Moosman to the Cards. Nice to see a lot of guys getting a look.
Not a Michigan guy but I'm glad to see that Stafon Johnson is getting a shot (got signed by the Titans). Would have been terrible for his career to end because of such a bad accident.
Donovan Warren to Jets
Greg Matthews to Bears
Brandon Minor to Bears
Brandon Moore to Bears
David Moosman to Cardinals
Mark Ortmann to Panthers
Marques Slocum to Redskins
