OT: The Official Detroit Lions and NFL Open Thread

Submitted by Michigan4Life on

The Lions are in Miami to face Chad Henne and the Dolphins.  Considering the way the Lions defense has been playing for the past few weeks, the Lions have a chance to pull off an another upset.  The Lions could concieveably finish the season with a 4 game winning streak which would set up nicely for the run to the playoff berth next season.

I'm not sure who's going to start at QB for the Lions, Shaun Hill or Drew Stanton.  Both are injured so we will probably see both on the field at some point today.

With none of their first three string quarterbacks at full health, the Lions will need big plays from the running game, and likely a little help from Logan / special teams and Suh / defense.

Not saying by any means that it can't be done.  I really hope Stafford can stay healthy next year and beyond - there's a good young core of players there with long-term potential for sure.

I don't think any bet involving the Texans is a safe bet. I feel like they should win this game. Good weather should also lead to better play. Had the weather been crappy, I'd taken the Broncos.

Texans should have enough ammo to play without Andre. I guess, if there's anything that worries me, it's no Arian Foster. He's probable, but who knows what that means.

The NFL is discussing postponing the Eagles/Vikings game tonight beacuse of the snowstorm that is going to hit Philly today. 6-10 inches of snow and wind might postpone a NFL game...what a pussified move if the NFL does that. What are they going to do if this was going to happen to their precious NYC SuperBowl in a couple years?

Dumb because this is a mans game and I love the idea of playing in deep snow or crazy conditions.  Terrible because I thought I was being smart by playing Webb at my WR position in FFB and if Favre starts switching him out right before kickoff switching him out for a Monday WR, however if they delay the game this throws this idea out the window completely.

Do they stick with him next year?  I think there is a lot of problems with the Dolphins but I am sure down in Miami there is a lot of blame on Henne.  I think they give him one more year and if they dont improve then he may end up a long term back up, while Sanchez (who blows btw) gets the chance to stay for a while for the Jets.  GO LIONS!!!! Keep Improving.

Can't start a thread...so did anyone here Adam Schefter just say from everything he is hearing that Jim Harbaugh will be in Ann Arbor next year? Schefter is obviously a guy who is well connected so it is hard to simply ignore what he says.

Saying the Lions are "poised for a playoff berth next year" is just asking to be let down. Now excuse me while I perform a pagan ritual to prevent your comment from fueling the Demonic Curse of Bobby Layne, which has already prevented the Lions from winning a championship for 50 years and counting. I was going to save my lamb for a New Year's Eve party, but now it has to get sacrificed.

and postponed the Phil-Minn game. It's disgraceful . . . and the fact that I'm playing against Vick and Djax in the FF finals has in no way clouded my opinion!

but about the fans I'm sure.  Getting 60-70 thousand people from all over and outside of the city into the stadium in weather like that would be a logistical hell.  As much as it sucks they're not playing in the snow, it just wouldn't be safe for the fans and the rest of the city who is trying to get around.

(Remember as well it IS the Christmas season, and people are visiting from out of town, etc)

The NFL has indeed postponed the Eages/Vikings game.  I like this because I have three Eagles on my team (Vick, Maclin, and Akers).

WOOOOOO SNOW THANK YOU!!!

After looking great for a drive, we come out and look wretched on a 3 and out.

And this secondary would make Henne look like a god after he's been inconsistent all season. Geez.

What is the point of having instant replay, if they're not going to get it right? I thought Bess' foot was OOB. It seemed like it was pretty clear on the instant replays as well.
