OT: Obligatory Friday "What are you doing?" Posbang Thread

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Its that time again!  Time to find out what everyone is up to this fine Friday morning/afternoon.  What are you up to?  Any good plans for the weekend?

Me, I'm sitting at my desk as usual.  Trying to stay awake.  I've been up since 12:30am taking care of child-rearing obligations and I'm exhausted.  Staring at a computer screen does not help keep the eyes open either.

Still trying to sell my car and get a new one.  Selling a car as a private seller is a lot of damn work.  Not to mention the fact that I've gotten 2 scam emails thus far.  They are hilarious.  The respondent is claiming to be at sea without access to cell phone but access to email.  They say they'll pay asking price and ask for my PayPal account because that's the only way they can pay.  Idiots.  I responded to one saying "Nice try.  Go scam someone else.  Oh, and I just reported you to the authorities."  F-ers.

P.S.  I'm going to posbang my own thread again because its fun and it feels good.

P.P.S.  Chick-fil-A for lunch today!  Mmm mmm good.

a double header because of rain yesterday. Probably a good eight or nine hours starting at three, but then almost a week off. Watching some of the WCWS and eating for now.

Working until 4:30...like everyday.

Heading to Ashley's after work to meet a buddy and have some brews. We will probably get dinner down there somewhere. Not sure yet.

Stop by Meijer on the way home. Pick up some groceries. Buzzed shopping can be dangerous though. Everything looks good.

Watch Tigers and pass out early. I would be "Drunk On Higgins" but the weather sucks and it's too cold to swim in still. Hopefully in the next couple weeks the lake will warm up a bit so swimming can be tolerated.

I have the day off today and I plan to get in a long bike ride, walk the dog, chillax on the hammock before happy hour and tasty Belgians. Tomorrow I'm painting the baby's room - only 10 more weeks!

I'm at work.

And I demand that anyone who reads this negs the held out of me. In fact, if you could create an additional account and neg me again. I'd ask you do so...fortunately or unfortunately, you have to have so many posts before you can pos/neg.

I can't neg myself for being at work. So I'd like someone who doesn't rate posts to neg me just this once for being at work on Friday, working through lunch on Friday, and having no intention of leaving work before 5pm on a Friday. Especially for someone who works in college athletics...this is supposed to be our relax time and time off. Neg, Neg, NEG!

Back in Michigan for a few days.  Mom just had her hip replaced.  So I'm sitting in the surgery waiting room at Borgess "getting work done" while waiting for her to get out of recovery.

Nailed it. I did decide to do it in my boxers, but I think the key was preparing. My advice to you is to research the company and have something thoughtful to ask( try to do this without sounding like you are an expert on the company- more like clarifying or directional). Also, be ready to answer STAR questions, and don't be afraid to give out instances where you failed and how you would have done differently. The phone interview is about figuring out if you match the company and getting a sense of how you think/who you are. Know your resume inside and out and speak clearly to your strengths and philosophy. I don't know if this applies to you, as this was an operations management position. Good luck.

You want to be comfortable.  Plus, if you ever get nervous, you can remind yourself that you know you're in your boxers and the person interviewing you still thinks you're acting professionally.

It doesn't make much logical sense, but I've done this before and it always seems to provide a little bit of a mental edge.

Find a quiet open space where you can stand and walk around while you talk. Because the person you're interviewing with can't see you, they're missing out on a lot of non-verbal cues such as eye contact and facial expression. You can make up for that with positive voice inflection, and you're less likely to sound stagnant and boring if you're up and moving around then you are if you're sitting still.

I could not do this without laughing. Fat women in their 40s should not publicly display pictures of themselves in a bikini. Seriously , shes an HR manager at a Fortune 500 company. Why would you have a publicly available FB page with that on there? Finding this has made it easier to relax.
