Here's the Oakland Press story from a couple days ago (LINK).

Considering that Detroit once blocked a previous attempt by Oakland to join the Horizon league about ten years ago, there might be some interesting rivalry potential.

It also makes a lot of sense for Oakland, as per the article, travel to Summit League games has a substantial price tag attached. In any case, the exit fee from the Summit League and the entrance fee for Horizon League will be paid by "external resources" according to the AD, so it will not affect the athletic budget.

great move for the Horizon League ! As a UW-Milwaukee alum, this is great ! Now they need to get a 10th team in the league, as this point, I'd say Northern Kentucky or IUPUI !

Good move for Oakland.  As a resident of Rochester Hills, I catch a lot of Oakland hoops games and it will be fun to see Valpo and U of D playing at the O-Rena.
