OT: Notre Dame Wide Receiver William Mahone Arrested

Even God's own university has difficulty selecting out the dark angels.  It is a slow news day indeed when a football player experiencing one of the worst hangovers ever is a lead story.  Time to find Jesus, kid.

Mahone continued to yell at police and began kicking the windows of the car, prompting police to stun him again ... Mahone began to spit ... [p]olice then put a spit net over Mahone’s head ...

"Mahone has never been able to earn significant time in part because of a string of injuries."   And I don't see that trend making any significant changes, either.   (Also, now begins the debate of OT or not-OT...rabble rabble)

The one and only time I had the pleasure of getting a bit tipsy (ok drunk) with my late father he pointed to the whiskey we were doing shots of and said "Donald....that bottle right there is a funny thing.  Makes one man want to fight and another man want to fuck.  Makes one man laugh and another man cry."

Looks like Mahone was one of the "makes one man want to fight" grouping.

The only time I sat down with my dad and did some serious drinking was when he was in his 80s. My sister, my dad and I started with a full bottle of single-malt, and by the end of the evening it was gone. My sister and I were fairly blitzed (it was at home and no driving was involved) but my dad didn't give the slightest indication he was even slightly tipsy. It was like he had the proverbial hollow leg.

Yeah I hear that BYU is facing some sanctions in the next couple months.

Self-imposed sanctions.   The OL was holding hands in the huddle during Spring Ball and then clapped in unison after the QB gave the play call.

Entire line suspensed 3 games for violating the University's code of ethics....

According to documents provided by Austintown police, police were called to a scene in which they discovered a “highly-intoxicated” Mahone head-butting and punching cars and attempting to fight several individuals.

Yeah, as Don mentioned, if this is how it is going to be when you're plastered, perhaps being plastered is simply not for you, especially if your tirade continues all the way to the hospital. I would hope that he gets some help before he manages to something worse.

with the "types of drunks" theory. You'll never get a more honest answer/behavior than from a dunk person. If they like it dislike you, booze will bring it out. As noted, at the same time you also have the generally happy, sad, angry and violently angry drunk. Those in the violent category (I know many) should be court ordered to not drink, IMO. Even if a person can hide their issues well while sober, I've known plenty that go absolutely insane the minute alcohol gets in them. Can't rationalize with them, talk to them or listen well enough in their incoherent rage. I'm a happy drunk but sometimes it makes me reflective. I hate betting around drunks while sober and anyone but a happy/average drunk while drinking. Hate it.

two beers and look for a fight. If there were no takers, he would chug a third and start swinging. Totally different as a sober person, but knowing this pattern it was easy to see that what he was holding back was right on the surface.

If Tommy Rees were a good leader, he would have taught Mahone to run from the cops. Mahone might actually have a chance of getting away.
