OT: Notre Dame makes kids nauseous

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

Food poisoning outbreak at Notre Dame youth sport camps this week gets over 100 kids ill. Cause of the outbreak has yet to be identified.

“Everybody was puking last night,” added football camper Alex Bradt, from Chaffield, MN.  Bradt did not become ill, but he noted his camp did not have enough players to create teams for a scheduled scrimmage Wednesday because so many of the teens were sick.

About 30 campers on campus for lacrosse, tennis, soccer, hockey and football camps were so sick they had to be taken to the hospital.  Several others were treated at the on-campus health center.

I think I have a guess at who patient zero is:

Right you are. I love me some chicken broccoli bake. I will defend UM dorm food til the day I day. Delicious. Interestingly enough my least favorite meals were usually when they tried to do something special like a thanksgiving feast. If there are any caf workers out there, stick to what you know.

Well, at least Python fans know that it could not be the salmon mousse. Indeed, the cause may not be discovered until the next Champs Sports Bowl. Who knew that this would be how "The Return To Glory" might manifest itself?

In all seriousness, however, hopefully everyone gets well soon - I can't imagine travelling across several states, as some probably did, only to experience that.

Radiation poisoning from that nuclear reactor meltdown that happened a few weeks ago that the government completely covered up without anyone being able to detect anything.

literally lost my lunch.....I was not a big fan of EQ....the food was usually blah there....whenever I had to eat there, I stuck to the cereal, bagels.....I lived in Bursley and MoJo...both had decent cafes...

Not enough points to post, was waiting for something ND related to add this info.

Happened to have lunch with Mike Brey last weekend during a golf outing in the Chicago land area.  Very nice guy, didn't mince his words and happy to chat sports with a Michigan fan.  Had nothing but good things to say about the future of U of M basketball, and also thought his team was going to be very tough this year with all starters returning.

The interesting points he made were about ND and conference realignment:

1. He feels from a basketball perspective ND must stay in either Big East or go to ACC, he said they can't afford to lose their ties to the East Coast.

2. He actually thought that this was going to be the year that football joined a conference (namely the Big12). While that didn't happen, he seemed certain that ND football moving to a major conference was a done deal within the next few years.

Not sure if that adds any insight, but I was excited to have the chance to chat with the man and thought I'd share his words.

I get that ND wants to stay connected to the East Coast for basketball, but neither the Big East nor the ACC will likely be power players in football going forward (maybe the ACC if FSU and Miami can get back).  The more I see ND, the more I see them going to the ACC for football because they need a conference that will give on their demands, and the ACC is in a position where they'll be far more receptive than the Big 12 orthe Big 1G.

The legacy of Rudy carries on at ND.

But honestly, that has to suck for everyone involved.  Food poisoning is not fun, and you hate to see that at a camp.
