OT: Nnamdi Asomguha to the Eagles

Submitted by MichiganMan2424 on

After much speculation and many rumors that he would go to the Jets, Nnamdi Asomguha has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on a 5 year/60 million dollar deal. This helps sure up one of the Eagles biggest problems from last year, the secondary, and makes them an immediate Super Bowl favorite. This is the second time that a Phili sports team has swooped in and grabbed the best free agent away from a NY team's grasp (Cliff Lee), and now makes Asomguha hated to almost all NY football fans.

DRC only has one more year on his contract. Plus DRC plays some safety. The Eagles probably had one of the worst safety sets in the NFL last year. They will make it work. As a Eagle's fan this is so exciting because the Eagles haven't even had a premiere secondary in a while.

Well surprisingly we had a ridiculous amount of cap space($60-70 million) Kolb was going to make roughly $2 million and thats about the amount DRC is scheduled to make this year ($2.6 million) so taking on the $12 million doesn'y out them in a huge pinch so, for this year I believe they can afford DeSean. BUT next year they will have to make room, because this is a contract year for Michael Vick. They should be in good shape for this year, though.

The best move the eagles made in the off-season was to pirate our coach, Jim Wasburn. He was the secret to much of the Titans defensive line success. Players like Haynesworth, Babin, Vanden Bosch, etc. were stars for Washburn. He is one of the best kept secrets in the NFL, I was more saddened by his departure than Fisher's.

I'm an eagles fan and I am pumped for this. I personally think they have 3 of the 5 best corners in the league. The eagles blitz from so many directions that as long as they can get a jam at the line. The qb will be running for there lives. I can't wait for the season. Hopefully Vick can repeat last years performance.

Eagles always do a great job of building a team with Andy and company but the Big question is will the win the Super Bowl? Probably not as always.

What a hell of a story it would be if we do?? I still think we are going to have something to say with the Plexico Burress. Of course it matters how much he is looking for monetarily. IF we can get him for a milllion a year like we did Vic, this team will be damn good.

is going crazy right now... and with good reason.    Birds are obviously going all in for this year.  Anything less than the NFC Championship is failure...

Man Im just glad he didnt go to the Jets. As a Giants fan, those Jets fans are annoying as all hell. I actually dont mind the Eagles, they're alright in my book. Those Cowgirls on the other hand.

That's all, really. I just wanted it to be anyone but the Jets. I actually kind of like the Eagles (the team, not their fans) and wouldn't mind them doing well. I'd like Andy Reid to finally get one.

At the end of last season, teams started really blitzing Vick. He couldn't handle it, and that's now the book on how to stop them. I think people send the dogs after Vick this year, and he gets hurt. They don't have Kolb, and anyone thinking VY can handle the job is a fool. I will enjoy watching BGraham come back from injury, but I don't even think the Eagles will make it out of the first round of the playoffs this year.

What do I know though? I also think the Colts will play a home Super Bowl game this year and take it all down...
