5. Why did you choose Northern Illinois University?
Throughout high school, one of my coaches had gone to Michigan, and he left our school and went to coach at Michigan. So between my sophomore and my senior year, I was 80 percent sure I was going to Michigan. But that was with the previous staff (Lloyd Carr's) so when they left, I was left out there. It was really late, so a lot of people had already filled up their scholarships and dropped me off their lists. NIU had been in touch and followed me, but when that happened I came to Coach Kill and he couldn't believe I was still out there. We talked and he convinced me and I wanted to be a Huskie. Now I'm here and I love it.

And I echo those from above. I dont remember a thing about Sean Progar. And it seems everything from back then, and wll ever since, has been covered to death, so I am perplexed.

Hopefullu somebody with a better memory can chip into the thread

I heard that too.  I still had my premium subscription to Scout back then and the name does not ring a bell.

For what it's worth he also just said Garret Wolfe has been excellent in the NFL.

Let's assume he was interested in Michigan because of his coaches and he was in the "if we strike out with the big names we'll come calling camp/preferred walk on status" and then when Lloyd left he had no connection and was never recruited, because he certainly wasn't committed to UM when RR came on board.

So after the fact he can run with his version of the story because who the hell cares and no one is around to dispute it.

Northern Illinois was probably the best team in the MAC this year but just blew it in the title game. Next year will be interesting for them. They return a decent amount of their two-deep, with most of those losses being on D. Looking around at the rest of the division, if the new head coach pans out they could be on top of the MAC West again.

The game I'm really looking forward to is Louisville v. Southern Miss, because nothing says distinguished, time-honored tradition quite like "Beef 'O' Brady's Saint Petersburg Bowl."
