OT: Nick Sheridan named RB coach at CMU
He'd been an offensive GA at Tennessee the last two years. Also, I didn't realize Bill was still coaching.
Congratulations to Nick. We'll always have that Minnesota game...

What game? Sorry I've wiped that year clean from my memory bank

Other than 2 Games played under some lights against Notre Dame, I do not remember anything after Carr and before Harbaugh.

This. So much this. Thank you beer, scotch and vodka.

blur.

Lou MacAdoo made no reference to Nick Sheridan, so I'm confused as to why you asked him that question.

Anyone who negs this doesn't have a soul

Haha thanks for that, but I've been posting this comment on every thread today in hopes of drumming up more support. Wasn't sure how the bombardment would be received...

Steel sharpens steel, but so do a million jibes, sneers, and quips.
January 13th, 2017 at 2:49 PM ^
Mind recalling what that "shit" was? I don't remember anything like that.
January 13th, 2017 at 4:10 PM ^
I'll start right at the top—in the immortal words of Brain Cook:
"Sheridan = Death."
January 13th, 2017 at 5:01 PM ^
Was he wrong?
January 13th, 2017 at 2:50 PM ^
"Nick Sheridan is Actually Good, and he's Trying His Hardest."
January 13th, 2017 at 4:13 PM ^
I never tried to make the case that he was good—he was woefully out of position at QB in RR's offense. I also never pissed all over him for it, or made snide, condescending comments about how hard he was trying, either.
January 13th, 2017 at 6:32 PM ^
You only piss on hockey players who leave early.

and learn to coach.
Through no fault of his own, he found himself to be RichRod's best option at times in 2008.
January 14th, 2017 at 1:13 AM ^
yet the walk-on gets the grief.
January 13th, 2017 at 4:38 PM ^
Too bad he was singled out like that. Mgoblog never shit on other Michigan individuals.
Threet
Brandon
Rich Rod
pre-Kovacs safeties
Hoke
Belein
De'veon Smith
Kalis
I'm sure I'm missing others
January 13th, 2017 at 8:07 PM ^
The negative comments Brian made about Sheridan and Threet were embarrassing. Their only crime was not performing to his expectations in a system that they were not suited to play.
January 13th, 2017 at 2:41 PM ^
I will never understand the placing of a former player of one position (in this case, QB) in a coaching position that he didn't play (in this case, RB).
January 13th, 2017 at 2:43 PM ^
... new skills over time. It happens.
January 13th, 2017 at 4:01 PM ^
After he handed off, he watched them run and took notes. Congrats, Nick!

Actually, if you remember the PSU game that year (2008, I think?) in State College, Nick spent most of the game running for his life. I am sure he acquired some skills as an RB in that game alone!
January 13th, 2017 at 2:43 PM ^
Would you want him coaching QBs?!?!?!?
January 13th, 2017 at 3:12 PM ^
I'm pissed that you would say such a thing about a guy who did his best for Michigan, results notwithstanding.
But I'm especially pissed that you made me laugh out loud!
/hangs head/
January 13th, 2017 at 4:05 PM ^
1. Dammit, I laughed too hard at that.
2. In all seriousness, I would want Sheridan as a QBs coach. He got playing time because he picked up the playbook quickly and always knew what to do...his walk-on body just couldn't pull it off.
January 13th, 2017 at 2:44 PM ^
I don't think Jedd Fisch even played football.
January 13th, 2017 at 2:48 PM ^
Niether did Mike Leach.
Also, Bill Belichick played center and tight end and now he's one of the premier defensive coaches in the NFL.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:00 PM ^
Don Brown was a running back in his playing days.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:05 PM ^
I think that is him in your avatar.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:19 PM ^
And Lloyd played QB (!).
January 13th, 2017 at 4:05 PM ^
Heard football.
January 13th, 2017 at 6:53 PM ^
I'm laughing so hard my stomach hurts. You win the internet today Mabel!
January 13th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
I saw Belichick in person once. He's about 5' 6" tall if that. Guarantee he never would have played anything for a college bigger than Weslyan.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:13 PM ^
Charlie Weis played cornerback
January 13th, 2017 at 3:21 PM ^
You sure it wasn't tailback? Like, "I know its my third trip but I'm still going to take my tailback to the buffet line.
January 13th, 2017 at 4:36 PM ^
The Charlie Weis jokes never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever get old.
Ever.

January 13th, 2017 at 3:22 PM ^
This is unfathomable
January 13th, 2017 at 3:44 PM ^
Just to set the record straight, he did not actually play cornerback. That was a fib. He did not play football AFAIK (I know, shocking)
January 13th, 2017 at 4:26 PM ^
He started out at CB, but his coach thought he was too smart and too good of an athlete to not be making plays with the ball, so they switched him to QB and started running a spread-option offense in order to give his team a decided schematic advantage.
January 13th, 2017 at 4:47 PM ^
Well, he may have occasionally controlled a cornerback on Madden.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:00 PM ^
It happens regularly.
Lloyd played QB. Coached DBs and LBs.
Moeller played LB. Became offensive coordinator.
Bo played on the line. Coached the QBs/coordinated the O.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:03 PM ^
Oh, come on now. Bill Belichick played center for little old Wesleyan University in Connecticut and he is now a Sith Lord. In part, it takes the drive to develop your skills and to get a broad experience in the sport - the rest is simply replacing Drew Bledsoe with Tom Brady due to an injury.
January 13th, 2017 at 3:09 PM ^
(ytum) played defensive back at the University of Cincinnati, go figure.
Yep, happens all the time.
