OT: NHL Trade Deadline 3 pm

Submitted by MichiganStudent on

The Wings made a minor trade today by sending Mike Commodore to the Lightning for a conditional 7th round pick.

Rumors out are the Wings went after Gaustad but couldn't settle on a price with Buffalo, so they have moved on to Sammy Pahlsson (Edit: Traded to Canucks. Reunited with former Swedish Elite League teammates the Sedins), Mikel Samulesson, David Jones, and Travis Moen.

Huge rumor: Detroit looking to trade Brad Stuart to the Rangers. Not sure for who though. ***EDIT: Proven "ridiculously" false

Other notable moves today:

- Andrei Kostitsyn traded from Montreal to Nashville to rejoin his brother.

*Its been quiet so far, but this last hour and a half should get nuts.

Gonna happen, although who knows where.  I'll soon find out if I disliked Nash because he was just a jerk, or if it was because he played in Columbus.

Between Columbus's demands and Nash's contract, I could see teams waiting until the NHL Draft to snag him. I just hope he doesn't go to San Jose because him paired with Jumbo Joe could be deadly. If Thornton can make Jonathan Cheechoo a 50+ goal scorer, Nash could hit 70 (not really, I just like to make jokes about Cheechoo).

EDIT: Well, looks like San Jose might have pulled out of the Nash derby as they just got Winnik and Galiardi from Colorado.

What could make the rest of the season for the CBJ even more uncomfortable?  Ask Nash to waive his no trade clause and then DON'T TRADE HIM!!  I'm glad I don't have tickets to any more of the games this season.  Friday night against Colorado was agonizing to watch.  I haven't been to a live event with such a dead crowd since my Ohio U football watching days.  The band got more cheers than the team.

True, but even then he isnt that great of a scrapper. He is just a guy that was very expendable. I'm glad Detroit got somewhat of a value for him and will allow the younger and more skilled players to play.

Commodore isn't worth anything but the silly ass beard he can grow during a playoff run. They called up Brendan Smith (who is far better than Commodore anyway) for the Columbus game. I doubt the Wings do anything major today, as they're safely in the playoff picture and just need dudes to get healthy.

Thought the same thing when I heard about Commodore. It doesn't make sense to trade a Defenseman when we just lost one 2 days ago.... I'm holding out hope that this was the preface to us making another move within the next 90 minutes.

The Rangers don't do anything stupid. Our GM has been know to set the team back with bonehead trades, and Rick Nash would be one of them. The Rangers have a solid core, please don't trade it away for Nash.

Also we don't need Brad Stuart, we need another forward. With Staal, Del Zotto, Girardi and Mcdonough there would be no room for him.

Just curious, but what makes a good hockey rumor site? I prefer the ones where the "rumors" actually come to fruition. Otherwise, it's just the site that mentions your team in every rumor, allowing you to fantasize about the third line of goal scoring dreadnaughts about to be unleashed.
