OT - NHL Lockout News/Bettman and NHLPA Hate Thread

Submitted by Red_Lee on

Shitty titty fuckity fuck.

NHL rejects NHLPA's offer, no future talks planned.

So much "optimism" reported yesterday, only to have my balls stabbed with a soldering iron. I am not just angry at Bettman (actually less after seeing his passion in press conference linked below). I am ready to burn this mothafucka to the ground because bitches can't get their heads on straight.

I really wish college hockey made it to the regional level. I'm about to buy a passport so I can see some quality hockey in Canada. THIS IS AMERICA I SHOULDN'T WANT TO GO TO CANADA.

Bettman visibly angry and curb stomping reporters.

Mod edit: I took down the original title, mostly because it's getting late. OP, feel free to create a new title full of anger for Bettman/Fehr, but the sidebar should avoid titles that might be taken the wrong way if possible. JGB.

It would boggle the mind, until you start to realize the owners like it this way.  Bunch of rotten old bastards.  Bettman sucks, Fehr sucks, the NHL is run by shitheads.  I wish I was any good at staying the hell away, but I know I'll just go running back if and when they ever pull their shit together.

The hell with both sides here. What a horrible winter presents us once the bowl season is over. Maybe Joe D and his hobbit for a coach Frank get canned so our new GM can bring this team out of the laughing stocks

My respect for Bettman went up a notch (to one notch) after watching the press conference. The NHLPA has been so obviously-pandering-to-sympathetic-fans it's mentally challenged retarded. Fehr really seems to be sacrificing the game and filling the players head's with $$$ just for his name. Drop the fucking puck already.

Seeing as Bettman got everything he wanted last time and it solved absolutely nothing its pretty hard to blame Fehr. They neglected to realize that teams would use long termc contracts to circumvent the cap, decreased the age needed for free agency, and put in a cap floor that was way to high.

Hockey fan from a long history of hockey families, but after reading an optimistic report followed by something much worse days later every week, I really could care less at this point. A 30 game season would not entertain me similar to a 2 year presidency, just doesn't work. Maybe it's the shitty QD whiskey in me. I don't get it, I'd play in the NHL for free equipment and food. Always puzzled by millionaires arguing over fractions.

What shitty teams were sponsoring this again? Remove them from the NHL and give us our hockey back. Fuck the Coyotes, and all the other warm weather teams where the fans don't even know what snow looks like for holding real hockey fans hostage.

that the game will just fade away.  The NHL isn't that firmly rooted in today's culture that if it goes away for a year (or two) that it could ever come back.   Analagous to those photos you see of the pistons' game at auburn hills, where they are attended by all 47 ticket holders.

It appears to me that the owners have taken the position that unless the players agree to ALL the owners terms there will be no season.  This really isnt negotiating any more than a kidnapper threatening to kill its capture unless their ransom demands is met is "negotiating".

I have actually started to consider that the current owners actually HATE hockey so they formed a kabal and then all secretly bought teams in the hope of wiping the sport of the earth.  If so they are doing a fantastic job of achieving their goal.

Needs to fucking hang.  The NHL is a clusterfuck, strictly because of his efforts.   Agree with a previous poster - cut to the chase and put Shanny in as commish.

I've hated Bettman since he first said "Steve Yzerman, come get the Stanley Cup".  Smug piece of shit.

Stands to reason he was originally Stern's whipping boy - he's brought the same mindset to the league and is running into the ground equally parallel to Stern's efforts, minus the weed.

Three things -  shrink the league. Lose Arizona, one of the Florida teams and either Nashville or Columbus.  2nd - let them fight   3rd -  get Canada competitive.  The league needs a Canadiens or Leafs cup so badly it hurts.

ok four.  Kill Bettman

I wouldn't blame Bettman for thel atest break down.

Apparently the players were ready to take the deal, and Fehr told them to hold out longer for more.  It's interesting to note that negotiations were going just fine and seemingly progressing well, then Fehr came back into the picture and everything went to hell once again.

This lockout is a fucking joke. The NHL is taking all the right steps to remain the fourth sport in the US. The popularity was growing and the money was growing. So what do they do, fuck up the progress and momentum.

The avenues: nice place indeed! I live about half a mile from there, on 7th E. Just moved there this summer. I'm currently in the Mitten finishing up my studies (this time next week I'll be a free man!) and will be going back there to start work full-time in the coming months. I've really fallen in love with the city, and especially hiking in the mountains. I've never really done much skiing (raised in Michigan, no mountains), but that's one thing I'll definitely be trying in the near future.

Sounds like the players were ready to take the deal until Fehr turned them back into his sock puppets.

The agents all have enough money to get throught this.  Half of the owners were losing money, anyway, so they will actually profit by this.  The only people who lose are the players and the fans.

I guess the players and fans don't matter much to agents and owners.

The thing is they aren't losing money.  When you have teams like the Panthers say they are losing 7 million a year and then when they have to open their books up because the arena deal with the local government and find out they are making 10 million a year how can you trust them. They make their teams look like they are losing as much money as possible by shifting off hockey related revenue into other companies they own.
