OT- NHL Free Agency Day 2 Open Thread

The madness continues. Suter and Parise are reportedly making decisions today, with one of them having a chance to land in Detroit. A plethora of UFAs remain unsigned as well.

Also, has anybody seen a timeline on a Nash decision? I haven't heard anything.

Go Wings. Get ALL the free agents.

Yea, I heard that on the radio this morning and it sounded like Parise was waiting to announce until after Suter. The way they said it made it sound like there were specific times that they were announcing.

Yeah, given what Columbus is looking for in return for Nash, I'd prefer the Wings to stay as far away as possible from that situation. Get Semin instead, as he's a better all-around player (when he tries, which I have faith in Babcock and Datsyuk to elicit more from him than Boudreau ever did) in my opinion anyway, plus Detroit won't have to give up assets which is a huge bonus for an aging franchise. Get Suter and Semin and I'm happy with the offseason.

I'm surprised players like Suter and Parise have not jumped on board. Wings are a top notch organization, original six team,  great coach, plenty of cap space... plus a chance to play in the Winter Classic infront of the largest crowd ever. What more could you want? Only thing I can think of is maybe Suter does not want the pressure of replacing Lidstrom and Parise would rather play with his "friend" Crosby or be captain and stay loyal in NJ.

I'm a Wings fan and we do have a great organization. That said, there are teams that are better set up to make multiple Cup runs in the next decade. The Pens' stars are young and phenomenal. Ours are getting a little older and while we have some good prospects, they are unproven. I can't blame players for considering the Pens or Flyers or Blackhawks. Those are top notch franchises as well.

let me tell you something he is one of the most talented players in the game, comes up clutch when he is needed and can deliver the body too. The reason why many of you are saying "don't pick him up" is because he doesn't have an offense that can help make him look better. He basically  carries this team on his shoulders. He knows he wants to play for a winning franchise and Detroit, with the skill and talent we already have would be a perfect fit for him!  To acquire him however Holland would have to give up two big names or prospects. Franzen, Cleary, Zetterberg maybe Helm. Nash is a player that is worth two in trade. He would be scary though on a line with Dats or Hank.

With that said I doubt Nash will come here but I'd love to have Parise and Suter.

I agree that we are most likely out for Parise.

The thing that tips me off is that the Wings have more than enough forwards on their roster with the acquisition of Samuellson and Tootoo. I think we get Suter (fingers crossed), but the additions of Samuellson and Tootoo makes me suspect that Kenny Holland might have a trade up his sleeve (this would be where Nash comes in).
