OT: NHL 12 Demo Released

Submitted by JR's Flow on

NHL 12's demo has been released on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network.

The teams available are, of course, Boston Bruins and Vanvcouver Canucks. Not sure on the exact length but you get to play the third period of a play now game this year

.You can start a Hockey Ultimate Team as well. Then also you can test out the Be A Pro Mode.

A lot of plublicity for NHL 12 this year because they are some major changes this year. Everything is "live" and can be impacted (you can run over Bobby Lu). Also the physics and the overall feel of the game has significantly changed this year.

Try it out before the September 13th release.

Discuss.

EDIT: Pretty crazy that Robert Luongo is a 90, whereas Tim Thomas is an 89 and Thomas outplayed Luongo in the playoffs.

I don't know about that high but in 90's for sure. He is older, so that plays  a role in it all. They re did their ratings though. He was a 91 last year and Luongo was a high 90

While I would love to have college teams I doubt they would be in for a couple reasons:

A) Having to pay the schools to use the likenesses

B) Having to then scout more players, which if you think about it they don't always rate pro players properly so how would that do with even less information on college players (hint look at NCAA 12's rosters and how bad those were)

C) It might not be worth taking up the space for an admittedly small market when they could use that space for more dynasty features or what not (making the teams/players/structure for scheduling/recruiting and all that)

It is a nice hope, but I think college hockey would only come by itself, and I don't see a big enough markey (i.e. profit) for EA to make one.

I gave NHL 11 a shot after a huge hiatus and I was hooked. Easily EA's best sports game. That and FIFA. I just wish NCAA Football would take lessons from EA Canada.

Agreed. Hockey and soccer are easily the best EA sports games. And I don't even like soccer. The gameplay is much more fluid, less glitchy, more realistic etc. GM mode or whatever it is (I feel like they change the names of these types of game modes often) is much better in NHL than it is in the other pro sports games IMO.

They are better games but IMO I think football is a lot more complex and unplayable without complexity. For example, in Fifa you can go the whole game without a subsititution and be fine, whereas if that happens in football it is a glaring issue. It just seems like things that arerimportant in soccer are easier to create. In football games, it is all about strategy and it is such a complex game, it is hard to get it right.

Just tried it out. I did not feel much of a difference in gameplay. Shots seemed easier to aim and the boards were not acting as suction cups, but other than that it felt just like NHL 11 (which I am okay with, I loved NHL 11).
