OT - NFL/Lions Open Thread/MNF

Submitted by mgoblue52 on

Hopefully my Lions can help subdue some of this weekend's disappointment again.  I'm not too optimistic with Shaun Hill facing the NYG's defense, especially because we're not sure Calvin is playing.  That being said, I'll be chugging the honolulu blue Kool-Aid if we win and will buy tickets to see them play the Redskins in a couple weeks.

Mod Edit: Bumped and slightly renamed for MNF

Well they have done it.  The arrogance and blatant disregard for their customers on the parts of Cablevision and Fox have removed the game, and all Fox including baseball, from local cable.  Time to go for a walk with the radio.

First seat licenses and now this.

I'm in an apartment building in Manhattan and use in-room antennas-- I actually get more channels in my bedroom with the rabbit ears and HD converter than in the living room with the omni-directional thing and HD TV.  But when the antenna is in the right place, the picture quality is terrific.  But note that if you want to record, it's harder and harder to get a VCR/DVR with an internal tuner so you can schedule advance recording on more than one channel.  The manufacturers really want/expect you to have cable/dish.  You've really got to fight for old technology.

Surprisingly enough, they are leading the NFC right now in most points scored. If they win today, at least I'll have something to be happy about in regards to football.

this is a much improved Lions who are actually competitive this season.  They're the team on the rise and the future is bright with the core in place.  They are actually a few players away from a playoff team.

I'm having a very conflicted day watching the Green Bay / Miami game.

I'm a Packers fan, but I don't hate Chad Henne.  I'm also starting Brandon Marshall in fantasy, and my opponent has Aaron Rodgers and the Packers D/ST.

Whatever, I just want the Pack to win.

but Shaun Hill, please get healthy because I do not want to see Stanton on the field ever again.  He sucks and can't throw to save his life.  The Lions are a Stanton injury away from playing Stafford who isn't 100%.  What a bizzaro world.

btw, what a crazy FG that Jason Hanson made!  The wind definitely picked up and carried the ball for Hanson.  Wow

and got the game last week.  It had been a while since I had seen the Lions win in real time.  It was a nice feeling...

Despite the record, they've improved.

I don't know how, but the Lions' display of lack of composure - despite being paid professionals - is really giving me a big dose of optimism this afternoon.

Is it ten flags now?  My God.  That is impressive.

is not coaching decisions, not being healthy- it is penalties. Game after game after game- Avril should be benched for the game- we had the Giants stopped for a FG attempt- instead- Avril takes an unsportsmanlike conduct...unbelievable....
