OT- NFL/Lions Open Thread

Submitted by MGoBeer on

The board seems pretty slow today so I was hoping we could have an all encompassing NFL games thread. If not it can solely be devoted to Lions-Raiders at 4. Hopefully we pull out another win on our way to a playoff berth.
Right now the Chiefs are beating the undefeated Packers 6-0 in the third quarter. If GB loses this game, there is a pretty good chance they rest starters against the Lions in week 17.
Bears are beating Seattle 14-7, about to start the second half.
A certain heavily-covered game should be on CBS in most markets, starting at 4:15. Please discuss it in a reasonable way. No reason to bring up anything but on-field play. Please prove we can have nice things.
Who's watching football today?

Fuck, man.  Some Raiders player just basically hit our guy - helmet-on-helmet no less - like ten seconds after the whistle.  This is why I'm pissed off about the reffing this year.  You know they'd have flagged the Lions for that.

The kickoffs have been great all day. Instead of kicking it out of the back of the endzone which was the point of the rule change we kick it high to the one and get great coverage.

I thought for sure that if the Lions can't get a hand on it, he was going into the record books; if someone was going to kick one this long it was going to be him. I tell you what, even with somebody getting a hand on it he kicked it pretty good; it would of had the distance had he got it off.

Lions win. Playoffs essentially clinched. My take: we definitely aren't good enough to beat the Saints in the postseason without some luck. It's still nice to make it after going over a decade without.

OH. MY. GOD.  Man, what a win.  All I could think of was "only the Lions could be the team to be the victim on both of the most recent record-breaking field goals in history."  Whooooo.

Will be at Ford Field next week - Lions can clinch with a win and that place is gonna be on fire.

We now know there is at least one team that can out-penalty us...but we're in the playoffs for the 1st time in over a Decade, all is forgiven!

Edit: I know the playoffs aren't guaranteed just yet, but it's a pretty safe bet
