OT: NFL/Lions Open Thread

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Lions at home vs Washington today. I've seen the Redskins play a few solid games this season. It'll be a tough game for the Lions.

Other NFL talk encouraged. I'll be in here for a bit for MNF. Go Texans.

Any suggestions on Steve Breaston for fantasy lineup today as my flex? Supposed to be his first game back, but he is still questionable. ESPN says rust and Max Hall is bad combo.

Only option I have is to start Darren Sproles from SD instead. He's good for 2-5 points on average, but he's going up against Tennessee's defense, which has been VERY good of late.

So Sproles or Breaston?

Yes, I normally have other options, but a couple of bye weeks has me short on options. Addai is hurt, Baltimore is on bye, etc.

Or maybe it won't matter. Guy is starting two players listed as out in NO's Thomas and Bush as well as Bear's RB Forte on his bye. Looking over his last 3 weeks, he hasn't adjusted the lineup at all.

My other league matchup has a guy starting 4 bye players. I have slightly more faith in that being fixed. This guy is on a 5 game winning streak

Someone picked him up after his first big game. RBs are tough to come by in the league. The guy I'm playing has 6(!) RBs and only 3 WRs. A couple others have the same sort of thing. I was wondering why I was able to get steals at other positions in the lower rounds. The longer this season has gone, the more I understand why.

2 sacks for the Lions defense so far (although one was just McNabb tripping). The defense is looking great and now the offense is marching. so great to have Stafford back.

Yeah, now that I look at it, it's any station that broadcasts into an area within 75 miles. That means Lansing stations that reach down I-96 would be withing 75 miles. Therefore Lansing couldn't show it either.

No idea on K-zoo unless their broadcasts reach all the way to Jackson. That seems a bit odd, but who knows.

What do you guys think about games being played in International Venues like London? I would be interested in going but for a student like me it can be extremely expensive. £70 - 100 for a ticket. £30-40 for travel (since I don't live near London). £40-50 spending while there. 1 day off work. Far too much effort to just watch a football game where I don't have any attachment to the teams involved. I do know a lot of people in the American Football community in the UK who are going to the game though.

I like this kid's potential, but he looks very very rusty today. Which I suppose should be suspected since he hasn't played since the first game, but man he had Calvin for 6 and underthrew it badly.

He really has been a great pick up, I'd like to see what Bobby Carpenter (another former first round pick) with another week or too of practice, could do. This defense is really playing some good football.

I think Carpenter could end up being a solid pickup as well. He was a 4-3 linebacker in college and then had to play in the 3-4 in Dallas. I am hoping that getting him back in a scheme that he might be more comfortable in will help him and have the same affect it had on Corey Williams.
