OT: NFL open thread/Lions Rolling/ TD Mike Hart!

Submitted by Mitch Cumstein on

I didn't see one of thses today so thought I'd start one.  Lions are taking care of business (nice to be on this end of a score like that), and Mike Hart just scored a TD for the Colts.  Good day in the NFL.

Thanks for starting the NFL thread - I tried and realized I didn't have enough points so I just put it in TomVH's post since I know people read his stuff a lot. This is doubly good for me - I love Mike Hart and my fantasy opponent has Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie, so it means none of them get the points.

Mike Hart may be Colts starter next week... wouldn't that be awesome? He played a great 4th quarter, lots of yards after contact... unfortunately, KC didn't give McCluster the ball enough (stupidly)... I have him and Moeaki on my fantasy team this week.

Addai and Brown has been a disapointment.  I'm curious to see if the Colts can finally give him a chance to shine because Hart always has been productive despite the fact that he doesn't have the physical ability of the other two RBs.  Hart is a gamer and has outstanding visions to find the tiniest crease to run through.

The first time they do not give up a touchdown since the season opener in 2006...the first locally televised win since December 2007 (they only won two games that were locally blacked out, this includes road games)

I do not remember the last time i was able to say the Lions truly kicked the shit out of their opponent...but they did, and I like being able to say it. Well done by the lions

by the Lions.  It was refreshing to see for once since the domination against the Broncos when Shaun Rogers rumbled for a TD.

The defense were great, the offense were solid. and the special team were great as well.  The 2 acquistions by Mayhews were outstanding in Houston and Smith at CBs.  Now, the Lions just need to find LBs and the other S spot opposite Delmas.  The Lions are moving in the right direction and were competitive in every games which is refreshing to see this year for once.

Nice win by the Lions, and signs of life after some tough early-season losses.  Outside of the Minny game, they were in every game until the end and never gave up.  Suh was very impressive, as was the secondary.  Shaun Hill has filled in quite well for Stafford, though I am still a bit worried about the lack of a consistent running game.  Best is fun to watch, but it still seems like this team struggles moving the ball on the ground.  Ah well, minor complaints after a really nice win.

even though Kolb did a decent job but I regret dropping Hill in favor of Kolb.  Doh.  All in all, I had a good day of FF.  Malcolm Floyd was a monster today ditto with Shady McCoy.  Had a few disappointment like Clark not showing up but that's most likely due to defense concentrating on Clark.

I really don't know what to think.  My whole like right when I'm almost ready to give up on them they give me a glimmer of hope.  But man, that felt good today to watch them destroy a team like that.  That D-line is awesome.  I think the KVB signing was one of the best offseason moves the Lions have made in my lifetime.

were the strength of the team.  They still lack the premier pass rusher.  KVB is solid and is a good signing by Mayhew.

LB needs work.  Levy needs to stay healthy and the OLBs are a need for this coming off-season.  CBs appears to be better than last year with Houston and Smith playing well.  Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara would be a nice pick for the Lions in the draft.  The other S spot opposite Delmas is a huge need.

I'm very encouraged by the future of the Lions and Mayhew is a very good GM who keeps looking through the waiver wire to help build depth.  The bottom 10 no longer sucks.  They just need to continue to strengthen the middle part of the roster.

Today was the first time I sat and watched the Lions play since 2 years ago on Thanksgiving day. They looked impressive, let's hope they can keep some momentum.

Given their history, people just assume that the Lions will be a bad team a lot of the time. Their 4 losses don't truly show how good they are IMO. A lot of close games, and a couple bad breaks. Sometime soon they'll get their stuff together and it's going to be great. I want to witness a super bowl.

Anyway, GO LIONS!

I see in the right margin that somebody else just posted separately.  You beat them to it.

I had stopped watching when I heard that Graham lost his starting position, but he showed up emphatically.  And finally Mike Hart got to show what he does so well.  And, yes, the Lions added to the emphatic check board.  So the sun comes up.
