Six minute clip of the game with audio from Matthew Stafford, including the final drive. Awesome stuff.
OT - NFL Films mic'd up Stafford
Wow. I'm not a huge Lions fan, and I've gotten a fair bit of enjoyment at their expense over the past few years, but that was impressive. It'll be very interesting to see where the team goes from here in the next few seasons.
Living in Dallas and getting to see him in high school, i've always pulled for him, even though i'm indifferent on the Lions. Steve Sabol said that was the best audio that NFL films has ever gotten, and theyve been in business since the mid 60's. Its hard to argue that. That was good stuff.
The man seems to be a field general, which is what this team has been sorely lacking. Now we just need to draft some offensive line talent to protect him before he gets killed. We're going to have a high draft pick again guys....just keep saying to yourself, "left tackle, left tackle, left tackle.....".
"I'm hitting your helmets like this is gonna be on you"
Does anyone know if this is this one of the oldest tricks in the quarterback book or is Stafford really clever?
Compared to the Big Ten Networks 'Coner' archive
... doesn't matter what the records were (or maybe it made it that much better), but to see someone compete like that, particularly the last drive, just epitomizes what sport is about. Great find.
How can anyone see that and not get goosebumps? I think I'd follow Stafford to the gates of Hell.
I was against taking him, I was against him starting as a rookie... but fuck it, he's going to be a champion someday. Hopefully in Detroit.
QB that's a keeper.....great stuff.
he had me with those party boat photos but this was even better.
Yeah, I definitely got goosebumps. That was outstanding.
since Joe Schmidt in the 70s who I don't think "Jesus, what a fucking tool." when I look at him on the sidelines. He actually looks like he knows what he's doing.
Cheers to Matt!! Think what we would have heard had there been a mike on Chad during certain games his senior year.
The Lions need a defense, though. You can get quality OL in FA. Look at the Patriots for example. NONE of their OL were/are first rounders.
Great footage. Stafford is like a young Favre in his enthusiasm for playing the game.
Did anyone else enjoy how many guys were slapping Stafford on the bad shoulder after the game was over? I would have had an O-Lineman blocking for me to make sure that my shoulder wasn't getting knocked around any more than he needed to.
Also, I love the sequence where the O-Lineman comes over to check on him, Stafford groans (understandably) and then just politely, but firmly says "Get the F*** off me." And then as soon as he figures out he can go back in the game, he wants the ball. Love it. Pure gamer.
I noticed that there were a few "bleeped" out words in that vid, clearly RR's "axis of evil" (foul language) has engulfed not only the UM program, but has extended its vile grip to encompass the greater Detroit area and the Lions as well.
I expect a full expose' from the Freep post haste!
The players union will make sure that this act does not go unpunished. Surely he will be ostracized by the league. There is no place for this in professional sports.
Hopefully it's contagious, for the Lion's sake.
Never been a fan of either he or the Lions but he definitely gets my respect after that. Great video.
