Love this nugget I found on ESPN's breakdown of him (edit: Reiff):

"Plead guilty to misdemeanor counts of public intoxication and interference with official acts in July of 2009. Officers reportedly found him undressing and acting disoriented in an alley when he ran into a nearby kitchen. Pursuit reportedly lasted 20 minutes and involved eight officers."

EDIT:  This is about Reiff.

Is a good pickup for Detroit.  Being down here in Iowa, I got to see plenty of his game, and he's legitimate (as most Iowa Lineman who make the NFL leap are).

Was a bit of a disappointment.  Though there's much more to his story than looking at how many sacks he's given up.  He was moved around a bit on the line and the abomination of a team he was drafted by, alone, earns a bit of redemption!  All in all, yes, he definitely underachieved.  New England thought enough of him to pick him up (depth purposes I imagine?!).  I have to think Reiff out-performs Robert in NFL play, when their careers are all said and done.

We need to replace Raiola like yesterday, but Molk is a reach block center (not a bad thing just what he is) and would be a perfect fit for NE. I wish there was a mauler center in this draft. I love Molk but I just dont think it would be a good fit for our OL strategy.

EDIT: Forgot about Konz. He is solid. Won't be there in rd. 2 though.

because they did not take Decastro. What they fail to understand is that a good OT is harder to find then a guard of good quality.Rieff has higher value simply because of his position.

Plus this is likely Backus's last effective year and they likely won't have such a good OT drop to them next year.  It's better to get Backus's successor in the system and have an experienced guy there instead of a rookie.  Who knows, he may be needed right now.  I think the negative talk about Backus has been blown out of proportion, but he did get owned in several games last year by younger guys.

Could the Lions trade up to get Jenkins?  I would love it if they did.  They could trade all the rest of their picks for him.  They only have 2 glaring needs.  One is met, and they haven't really had luck in the late rounds the way a team like NE has other than with Spievey (kinda).

Reif is solid but i hate that pick usage. Take one of the good def players there then trade up for an OL. Sick of getting dominated in the backfield. We have done nothing in free agency so please be smart and take a CB or LB next mayhew!

We signed one guy in free agency. A half ass cb. I said "free agency" because i dont assume re-signing your players as literally as some i guess. Also excuse my lack of "defensive" backfield. Didnt think i had to spell that out either. You boys think what you want but with hightower and kirpatrick still there.. Bad move. I think reif is a stud but it wasn't a value pick based upon our supreme need at cover positions.

I realize there's a need on defense but I cannot believe you can't see what a need there is on O-line.  I mean, these guys are ancient.  How long would you let them molder?  We picked up a guy at a position of great need who fell a few slots to us.  Nothing to complain about here.  You take linemen before you need them because if you wait until you REALLY need them, you risk getting your expensive superstars hurt.
