Otherwise know as me posting to myself. Though I'm sure the Draft will be popular on the West Coast at 7 am.
Looks like we have an ESPN crew upgrade with Wingo, McShay and Jaws with Kiper.
The NFLN is the ultimate upgrade over the ESPN crew. The ESPN crews are real hard to watch.
Although, today Mayock sounds like he ate a porcupine. The dude has a raspier voice than Barwis.
I don't think they can do worse than the crew they've had the last two days. I just want to hear about these draftees. Hopefully, the coverage today won't be as awkward as the last two days.
I've been watching the stream on NFL.com the last two days, and both days, in the middle of every round they cut to the studio in LA, where they talk about previous picks and storylines, i.e. Jimmah.
I just don't get it, because we have 4 months to talk about previous picks. But the draft comes but once a year, and I want to hear about every pick as it comes through.
just complained that the draft is "over-analyzed."
At least he knows he's expendable.
Ohhh the Raiders. Project Bruce Campbell and now Project Jacoby Ford. They just can't stop staring at the shiny objects.
Well at least they're picking these guys in the fourth round instead of the first round now
Maybe they lied to Al Davis and told him the draft started today?
Does anyone else get the feeling that Jerry Jones has started to go off the deep end in the same way as Al Davis?
They have way bigger needs than WR, but they trade up for Dez Bryant. This after trading a 1,3, and 5 for Roy Williams 2 years ago.
And (AND!) he's drunk all the time, just like Davis.
Every time Mack Brown talks it's a different reason why Colt McCoy is awesome and it's all thanks to him.
You obviously missed his interview last night. Holy crap, it was uncomfortable to watch grown men slather all over each other and the MESSIAH.
Odds on another Michigan player drafted today? What are we thinking 10:1? 20:1?
Zoltans still on the board
He's why I stayed at 10:1. Punters are hit or miss on getting drafted. Only I can think of in the last 2 years is Morestead at New Orleans.
Yeah that was more sarcasm than anything, if a team falls in love it'll work. I'm sure some team will take a chance on Donovan as well.
Warren is getting drafted today.
I'll take 10:1, I gotta believe that someone will like the athleticism of Stevie Brown or the healthy version of Minor. Zoltan gives me hope (mostly in my heart) and Warren is dong punching himself but may go late.
I just have to believe that one of them will go, mostly because I am a homer.
I'm gonna bet that Carlos Brown gets drafted by the Carolina Panthers. I hear they love him and plan on having him on the team whether they draft him or he's an UDFA.
First OSU player taken. That's what I like.
I'd prefer no OSU players be taken.
better get used to carrying lamars bags for the next year...
I don't see that as a good thing.
Northwestern has more (2) players drafted than Michigan and Ohio State.
For some reason, I didn't think Mike Kafka was going to be drafted, but whatever.
feels uncomfortable with only 2 good quarterbacks on his roster so he needed to draft juuuust one more. theyve had a pretty good draft so far to shore up the defense.
I just don't see why you take Kafka now when you have more needs than at QB, especially with Eric Norwood on the board.
Also, do you really think Kafka is a good QB? As an Eagles fan, I already miss McNabb.
he'll sit on the bench for 4 years and then he MIGHT do well and he might not. i can see why u pick him. i dont really know where else you would go if ur an eagle. as to picking eric norwood, i LOVE this guy after watching him play. sadly, the eagles used all their picks on defense and i think that getting another defender would be a bit excessive. they needed to get someone on offense just to balance it out.
obviously this should be a defensive pick, but who?
An offensive tackle.
Where are the Lions going here?
Looks like Sam Young (OT, Notre Dame) is still out there.
What's up with Eric Norwood?
Norwood would have been a nice pick up for the Lions.
And as we all know, no tweener has ever been successful in the NFL.
Ricky Sapp (Clemson)
Thadd Gibson (Ohio State)
Said he started all 47 career games for the 'Canes.
Dude was playing with an injured knee last year. I like Sam Young better but, what do I know?
But if you get a 4 year starter at tackle for a big time program, it's hard to be disappointed.
Sam Young was a four year starter, too, though. I don't mean to hate on Fox; I think the two are pretty much the same guy.
I think this draft has gone very well and hopefully we'll pick Pacman and Bullocks will help patch up the remaining holes on the D until next draft.
The Lions are getting some serious DAP from everyone on ESPN right now
Than they've gotten the last 30 years combined.
How do the lions deserve any love from anyone?
Maybe they should win some games first before we start passing out the gold stars.
I meant that they didn't deserve any dap for the last 30 years.
But why all the Lions anger?
It's not anger, I just don't think lions fans should feel slighted by anybody other than Lions management.
the "Lions management" that you speak of no longer exists. Millen was exiled, in case you forgot.
I must have missed when the Fords sold the team.
where Ford is making the draft picks
all those years they continued to employ Millen.
is he still around? The freaking point is, the management that Lions fans have ill will towards is Millen. Millen is gone.
I will never understand how short lions fans' memories are. Listen, I'm a lions fan as much as the next guy, and I think they're making progress. I like Schwartz and Mayhew, they seem to be making some good moves, but how can you forget where they've been for the last 9 years? That isn't a Millen-only issue. That's a systematic failure.
Again, I hope they turn it around, but the Fords are as much to blame as anyone.
that Mayhew/Schwartz are calling ALL of the shots. I don't even think the Fords are interfering with their work. That's why I find this to be completely new management. Also, coincidently, Millen is on my TV right now. RAGE!!!!!!!!!
I know, Holy Fuck, if there is ever a holiday when Millen should go hide in a cave.
I agree that Mayhew/Schwartz are calling all the shots, except one. The Fords control who is the GM.
As a lions fan, I want to see the Fords sell the team, but I want to see Millen die in a fire.
Bob Woodruff was pretty awkward.
And they're not making fun of him. These are truly heady times.
Another great stat...MSU players drafted < 0..yes, less than zero
Perrish Cox. What a great name. Warren is #2 CB available according to ESPN. He'll probably go this round.
Maybe the Bears at #141 or the Eagles at #146? Those teams have some need at CB
Edit: I was close, the Bears did take a DB.
Edit 2: And the Eagles wanted him so badly they traded out of the pick. Damnit. 0 for 2.
Edit 3: Double damnit. The Eagles didn't even take him when they did pick.
And just drafted, Perrish Cox (CB Okla St). Is he in the NOTY Tourney??
The New York Jets have selected the leader of the humans in the war against the machines, fullback, University of Kentucky
Did Tim Tebow rape McShay's sister or something? Don't get me wrong, I hate Tim Tebow, but wow. McShay doesn't even think he belongs on a roster.
My two cents: Tebow gets his number called on a couple plays this season, joins a mega-church in Littleton, CO, gets praise from the community as a "role model", finally dying in a knife fight like Haley Joel Osment in Pay It Forward (with DJ Williams - from The U! - playing the role of the violent bully) inspiring numerous candlelight vigils and a Disney movie.
Ed Wang, OT, VT.
CB's coming off the board fast. With 'Phins and Iggles picking soon, Warren could be gone soon.
McManis from NW in front of Warren? What is Houston thinking? And now a CB from Maryland to the Dolphins.
Are they really going to Matt Millen right now for draft analysis?
ESPN must be sucking wind right now. Millen.. Draft analysis bahahaa.
To The Pats
Congrats to him :D
The Pats love them some Wolverines.
Belicheck is the smartest man in sports.
Pats will when the super bowl next year. Warren must not feel to good.
Even if they don't when it, they'll at least get there and loose which is still quite an accomplishment.
"Wow, so you go to Michigan, so you can spell, good for you." - white_pony_rocks
ZOLTAN to the pats!
Way to go ZOLTAN!!
Off the board to NE!
good pick pats. 5th round
What a Combo of Space Gods!
He just said Zoltan was a reach. He is worthy of the #1 overall pick.
Also Alan Faneca released by jets. Lions could use some help on the oline. Worth a look?
I think he may have been joking judging from his tone. He's been shouting that out at Kiper all day. If he wasn't, than may he be destroyed by one of Zoltan's laser-guided photon torpedo punts.
There's special teams player teams player of the draft off the board. Looks like the Patriots got sick of inconsistent punting over the last decade, or so, and used a fifth-round pick on heavy-legged punter. I like the pick a lot. It will help the Patriots immensely
So Yay for him.
oh jesus al davis
you would take fail to new galaxies if we would let you
MikeReiss: One theme from this draft for Pats: Big, physical, tough >> RT: @MilesGrant: Even the punter the #Pats drafted has size. Mesko is 6'4", 240.
Arizona the reason why is.
1.Arizonas roster full of Michigans finest.
2.They Traded Bryant McFadden back to Pitt.
Right now Pro Football Weekly has Warren projected as the top undrafted cornerback.
they're only a weekly publication
I have seen Michigan get burned on Jimmy Clausen, Roger Saffold, Koa Misi, Andrew Quarless, Tony Moeaki, and Golden Tate's film. As expected, most of those guys play offense.
Matt Williamson: Wow, wouldn't say that one team clearly is doing better than everyone else. Detroit comes to mind for sure, but I am just such a huge Suh fan
[Comment From Ravi ]
Lions having the best draft so far ?
[Comment From Avion ]
Oakland is having the best draft purely based on expectation.
Screwing up on draft day, even when he isn't picking players.
(What the hell did he say?)
He's on the air for five minutes, and he's apologizing.
Maybe it's time to stop talking.
Millen threw out the Polack term while talking to Jaws.
being beaten by a "Top 4" round QB...
That was the least of any of Millen's draft day blunders.
Apparently the only filter he has is the one that weeds out good football players.
Stevenson Sylvester, OLB from Utah, picked by the steelers. I really liked this guy and was hoping that he would either fall to the 7th or 6th and lions could trade up for him. Oh well, only one more round to wait for the epic 7th round and Mr. Irrelevant. lets find a gem!
Personally I'd like Myron Rolle to the Lions in the 7th. He could be a solid contributor at 6'2" 220 next to Delmas. I liked him at FSU and as a person. Obviously he has to make it there first though.
no such thing as a bust in drafting a kid who lauds ethics in the NFL and went to Oxford. he could also begin some of his studies at UMHS!
Even better! Someone get Jim Schwartz on the phone and tell him to work his draft magic!
I would love it if the Lions picked him. He was outstanding at FSU and was a top recruit coming out of high school. He's definitely worthy of a 7th round selection.
Myron Rolle would be a great pick in 7th. Him, Warren and an outside linebacker would be a nice finish
Ugh Warren should have stayed
solid pick by the Bears who have been at free fall behind center for years
Though I don't know about the Bears giving up all their picks for a QB, to then...draft a QB.
They should always have Kiper and McShay together, to bicker.
but I'm happy for Dan. It was a pleasure watching him for my 4 1/2 years of undergrad at CMU. Go get em, Dan!!!
Great Name. All-Queen Elizabeth's team.
let's hope we see Warren go here
than Michigan State:
Fordham, Hillsdale, William and Mary, West Texas A&M
These schools are also tied with Ohio State. Weird.
James Madison, Missouri State, Louisiana Tech
the Lions are going to be able to get some good value picks in the 7th round.
I would love it if they could get Rolle.
Crompton went before Snead.
The Chargers must have really wanted a gigantic catfish.
Give me the QBs picked before Brady clip, and my Draft is complete.
Now 2 CMU players taken.
More picks than OSU baby haha
Pitt Steelers are having a really good draft - scooped up two talented kids in the 6th round with Dwyer and Antonio Brown/.
Dwyer can be a Bettis type for them.
OK, now I really want Myron Rolle on my team.
How does a potential (then fulfilled) Rhodes Scholar end up on FSU, anyway?
FSU Medical School IIRC.
Seems like a great kid, I wish him the Javhid Best.
to the Panthers - I guess they figure between Clausen and Pike one of them will pan out.
Rolle to the Titans.
Jeff Fisher's Mustache is happy.
Damn, I was hoping he'd fall far enough for the Texans to pick up. We didn't address safety this draft, and our secondary needs all the help it can get. Maybe we'll go for Warren? Having someone else already at the CB spot, I wouldn't mind if he was insurance.
So who do we think Mel Kiper's #1 draft pick will be for next year? Last year he was all over Curtis Painter. Is there some random meh talent-QB at any Big Ten or Big East also-ran that he can claim for next year?
Whoever it is he must be thoroughly mediocre.
I've never heard of from NC State.
Anyone know anything about this kid?
Thanks to the RAIDUHS!
So judging by the fact that Iowa has had 6 players drafted, I'm assuming they aren't supposed to be as good this year?
They lose Moeaki and Buluga. Those are pretty huge. Lost Angerer and Speivey as well. Those should hurt. It really depends if you think they were lucky last year or talented.
unfortunately it was at CB
to the Eagles.
Rd 1 - #13(13) Brandon Graham (OLB) Michigan

in the 7th Round - I like that pick for the Rams.
I know Dickerson was the best player on the board left, but why did we take ANOTHER tight end?
But I think that is a good pick - dude was rated as a second round prospect by many.
Glad Stevie got drafted, but why did have to be the raiders?!???!
