The Lions just traded their pick.
The Seahawks took (CBSSports) #38 overall DT Jesse Williams. Even though the Lions don't have a need (now) at that spot, I hope we got more than we passed up.
Must've been Denard or nothing for them. If no Denard, then trade away for more picks. I'm not saying I agree with the strategy, but maybe it's a plausible explanation.
Seems right. Plus, the Lions are so good at finding hidden talent in the later rounds, why not get as many late-round picks as possible? /s
Good luck, Denard, and give them hell.
Going up against Gholston in practice.
Jacksonville is a nice place.
Denard will be a RB with the Jags
This isnt trolling it was announced...
DAY 3
Seattle Seahawks: Acquire pick No. 137 in 2013.
-- At No. 137, Seattle selects Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama
Detroit Lions: Acquire picks No. 165 and No. 199.
for a couple of practice squad-level picks
I agree with the sentiment, but let's be fair -- practice squad-level picks for most teams = starters for the Lions. :\
They can pick two more defensive linemen. You can never have too many, just like WRs.
Taylor and Ansah replace Vanden Bosch and Avril. How is that too many defensive linemen?
a guy that might actually have an impact
The Lions traded pick #137 for picks #165 and #199
Last year,
Pick #138 LB Tahir Whitehead http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/15070/tahir-whitehead played in 14 games and recorded 11 total tackles
Pick #148 CB Chris Greenwood http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/15100/chris-greenwood recorded no stats
Pick #196 CB Jonte Green http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/15128/jonte-green played in 15 games and recorded 1 INT & 29 total tackles
It's a crap-shoot in these late rounds. I think, if you see value, AT ANY POSITION, just take it. You can always fill holes with free agents.
Not too exciting Really wanted them to trade down in the 1st, 2nd, or 4th.
Didn't get much here, but well, Denard what off the board, so I guess I don't mind too much.
My new tattoo:
Thats a woman with that tatt....and she has bigger arms than i do!
Thanks. That's my daughter. Not cool.
On the one hand I'm all: Fuck the Jags! They stole Denard and Joeckel from the Lions! and on the other hand I'm all: Go Jags! My new favorite team! Denard and Henne play for you!
#jaguars stressing they're drafting Robinson as a RB and KR (not a WR).

I hope the Lions take Rambo and Quessenberry with their 5th and first 6th rounders. Get some competition in those thin positions.
If the Lions seriously wanted Denard, they had the chance—there was only 5 picks difference between their 4th and 5th round picks. They wanted Devin Taylor more.
Anyone else notice that the draft tracker for SI.com did not have an avatar picture for Denard? Take a look under their best available and scroll on down to Anthony Rashad White from little brother... Go on.. Take a peek... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/draft-2013/tracker/?sct=hp_mini-draft#bestAvailable/1
Added link. How do you mess up something like that?
He actually looks like "WTF the Jags."
but I wouldn't be shocked, either. Not too many people thought that Geno Smith or Barkley would take as long to get chosen, so it's a crap shoot.
...but that's it.
Will Campbell, Patrick Omameh, Craig Roh and Kenny Demens are now on the "best available" lists for their positions. Kovacs is not as of yet.
First Hawthorne, now Hyde...Johnny Adams and Josh Johnson are next.
Awkward video...Denard's always short in interviews but this was a little uncomfortable. Heck, he may have been a little buzzed, hell, he's 22 and it's a celebration...not knocking him. That said, it's Denard so I really couldn't give a damn. Time to eat, LETS GO!
Was just painful to watch. I feel bad for Denard, for some reason he doesn't seem happy.
...K/P Sam Martin
I hate being a fan on the Lions.
scramble to add Sam Martin to their databases.
EXACTLY.
Punter? Very anti-climatic. And after that UCLA kid was picked, too. I doubt this was really who we wanted. Not cool. Punter > Swopes or any other player I don't know about?
Hell, maybe. But I'm a Lions' fan.
Only happy with the 3rd round pick. Every other one I've been rather disappointed in, although I'm open to hoping the Ziggy could be special.
Kickers dropping like flies now! Snatch em up!

Exactly, Derelicious
Pick | Grade | Team | Analysis |
165 | D |
Lions select: Sam Martin, P, Appalachian State
Any time you have the chance to grab the draft's 6th-rated punter in the 5th round, you'd be a fool not to pounce on it. Martin will at least get plenty of chances to hone his craft if Detroit doesn't upgrade its offensive tackle situation. |
Fucking embarassing.
Just googled Sam Martin and didn't find anything about him on the first page... SMH Lions.
Rudy?
Caleb TerBush or Dayne Crist with this next pick...
