This is great news and congratulations to your dad for getting to live his dream of being a Michigan student.
This is further evidence that it really is never too late to do these things, and I wish him only the best in his time at Michigan.

This is actually one of the things I've always thought about doing in retirement. I really want that completely useless European history degree.

I loved getting my history degree... Isn't that worth it?

Congrats to him! You are never too old to keep learning.

And, I'll bet he taught the Profs and fellow students some things given his experience!

Congrats!
My mom went to UM for her masters after I graduated undergrad, and she loved every minute of it. Best of luck to your dad!

I just retired after 30 years and am thinking of enrolling at the Univerisity part time this fall. I'm 52 years old and never went to college. I am now considering working towards a degree in anything meaningless that I find interesting.

I hope I'm in a position to do this at your age. What an opportunity. Good to see you're not falling into the 'cranky old man' phase but instead engaging yourself intellectually.
Have a blast!

(He's teaching History of College Athletics in the winter this year, in order to accommodate the Endzone tour.)

It would be even greater if he chose to live in the dorms. My vote always goes to the hill.

Truly inspiring. I wish him the best of luck, and I'm sure I'll see him around at Scorekeepers!
