OT: New Nike Golf Commercial

This is a pretty sick commercial With Rory and Tiger.  Reminded me of the old juggling commercial Tiger did way back.

It shows Tiger with a sense of humor.  When his "troubles" started, it seemed like the media were on a mission to only show photos of Tiger with the worst frowns and grimaces they could find.  The media finally started showing other photos last year, and now we get to see a pretty funny Tiger commercial.

Tiger is going to have a big year this year.  He is going to get that record yet.  Knee trouble could be a continuing problem however.  You can tell he is compensating by hitting that ridiculous looping fade off the tee.  If he can become consistenly accurate off the tee he is going to win big again.

For the most part, he was pretty accurate all things considered last year. He's never been a guy like Furyk or Stricker who consistently hit 65-70% of fairways, simply because the further you hit a ball the less accurate it will be, and Tiger has long been one of the biggest hitters on tour. But he did manage to finish 6th in total driving (accuracy + distance) last year, which is better than he ever has before.

His biggest issue lately has been 150-and-in. There were many times this past season where he routinely was hitting 100-150 yard approach shots well short of the pin, giving himself 30-40 foot birdie putts. His putting is also not what it used to be, but if he can get dialed in with the wedges again, he'll be tough to beat because that ridiculous looping fade has, to this point, been very effective for him. He's just not cashing in on his opportunities.

I'm excited to see how Augusta plays out this year. I've gotta think Rory is the favorite heading into that, as it's a draw-based course, friendly to long hitters, and he's already proven he can score well there (if we ignore the last 9 holes he played in 2011).

about his wedge game.  I remember him flying a couple of greens by twenty yards with gap wedges.  But that does surprise me about him being fairly high in driving accuracy.  He was a mess when ever I saw him hit it, and he seemed to barely hit it at all in the majors.  Perhaps my memory deceives me because I thought he was playing with the driver yips all year last year.

I do remember in 2011 him being ridiculously terrible with the driver (and, generally speaking for a guy with his accolades, everything else). But last year I think he got a lot figured out, especially by having that go-to cut shot. In 2011, he was hooking everything off the planet.

He did seem to use his stinger 3 wood and 2 iron more than he used to this past year, but that's not entirely a bad thing since he still hits that close to 300 after it rolls out.

You're back to one already. Usually, I think the jump from one to zero doesn't require much with only a few posts, and then the flipside of that is that zero to one isn't tough either. Then again, this is Brian's system and I don't know much about how karma works, other than the basics.

Also, for future reference is anyone is curious, it's totally peer generated. Moderators don't have the ability to change karma either positively or negatively.

I believe Nike gets Tiger's forged muscleback irons from Miura. Endo forging is probably considered the best and I wouldn't be surprised if Nike gets Rory's irons from them.

This is why the notion that "Nike clubs suck" doesn't hold water here. Most of the top blade irons are coming from these Japanes foundries. There's only so much technology that can go into exactly where to distribute a limited amount of mass on the back of an iron. The most important factors are shaft and grind. I'm sure he will keep the same shafts and sole grinds.
