This is a pretty sick commercial With Rory and Tiger. Reminded me of the old juggling commercial Tiger did way back.
OT: New Nike Golf Commercial
Reminds me of the Jordan and Bird McDonald's Commercial.
I had forgotten what a sylish outfit Jordan was wearing for that commerical (Bird predictably dressed like a gym rat) and the influence someone had on fashion in the 80's.....
It shows Tiger with a sense of humor. When his "troubles" started, it seemed like the media were on a mission to only show photos of Tiger with the worst frowns and grimaces they could find. The media finally started showing other photos last year, and now we get to see a pretty funny Tiger commercial.
Good points, though anyone can be funny with the right W+K copywriters.
Weird to think that Tiger is the "old guy" now. Hope we see more of these.
2 Golfers 1 Cup, had to post it
the NSFW version is much better...
is that your real hair?" That's good.
Tiger is going to have a big year this year. He is going to get that record yet. Knee trouble could be a continuing problem however. You can tell he is compensating by hitting that ridiculous looping fade off the tee. If he can become consistenly accurate off the tee he is going to win big again.
You ARE talking about him dating girls again, right?
(Well, his version of females.)
For the most part, he was pretty accurate all things considered last year. He's never been a guy like Furyk or Stricker who consistently hit 65-70% of fairways, simply because the further you hit a ball the less accurate it will be, and Tiger has long been one of the biggest hitters on tour. But he did manage to finish 6th in total driving (accuracy + distance) last year, which is better than he ever has before.
His biggest issue lately has been 150-and-in. There were many times this past season where he routinely was hitting 100-150 yard approach shots well short of the pin, giving himself 30-40 foot birdie putts. His putting is also not what it used to be, but if he can get dialed in with the wedges again, he'll be tough to beat because that ridiculous looping fade has, to this point, been very effective for him. He's just not cashing in on his opportunities.
I'm excited to see how Augusta plays out this year. I've gotta think Rory is the favorite heading into that, as it's a draw-based course, friendly to long hitters, and he's already proven he can score well there (if we ignore the last 9 holes he played in 2011).
about his wedge game. I remember him flying a couple of greens by twenty yards with gap wedges. But that does surprise me about him being fairly high in driving accuracy. He was a mess when ever I saw him hit it, and he seemed to barely hit it at all in the majors. Perhaps my memory deceives me because I thought he was playing with the driver yips all year last year.
I do remember in 2011 him being ridiculously terrible with the driver (and, generally speaking for a guy with his accolades, everything else). But last year I think he got a lot figured out, especially by having that go-to cut shot. In 2011, he was hooking everything off the planet.
He did seem to use his stinger 3 wood and 2 iron more than he used to this past year, but that's not entirely a bad thing since he still hits that close to 300 after it rolls out.
Anyone else surprised to see Rory wearing red in this commerical? I guess I am just surprised as Tiger has made this look a trademark on Sunday every tournament he plays in, and is known for his red shirts on championship Sunday.
Tiger wears red on Sunday? I hadn't noticed.
Yeah, I find it interesting that a player of Rory's stature seems a-ok with getting behind the whole Victory Red lineup Nike has, when the name of that lineup comes from Tiger's predilection towards red.
Greatest commercial ever. Huge fan of everything Tiger, Rory, and Nike Golf.
Is it just me, or perhaps my computer, but does the entire commercial seem fake except for Rory and Tiger? I mean the bags seem odd and the background seems like a green screen.
you're correct. It is fake. There is a very good possibility that Tiger and Rory never even saw each other to make this commercial.
Rory is living the life right now. Got his big Nike deal and he is still dating Woz.
This is i belive the 3rd big signing for Nike golf over the last year as Watney, and another young golfer ( cant think of name) has signed with Nike. I can understand for clothing reasons to switch to Nike, but a little surprised guys would want to potentially switch their clubs? I know Rory has been a Titleist guy, it will be interesting to see if he ditches the Scotty Cameron.
Don't know why this was downvoted but Nike clubs suck. I doubt he moves away from Scotty, I mean Tiger was allowed to use his Scotty before as are most golfers.
The reason Tiger got to keep his is why I brought this question up? I just wonder if that is standard Nike practice? Or since this is a new age of players coming in, will Nike control the inside and outside of the new bag?
but I think that post was at zero, which is your current karma value. Looking at your past posts, I have no idea why your karma value is zero, but it appears a couple people have downvoted you since your return.
If we can get a couple people to upvote these entirely reasonable (and I thought informative) comments, you should be back to starting at one quickly.
Edit: And gutnedawg, who appears to agree with you here, will be able to do that after only one more post. Come on man, make the post and start upvoting people!
I am not sure why I was being down voted? I am just trying to get back in here and this is a pretty solid topic.
You're back to one already. Usually, I think the jump from one to zero doesn't require much with only a few posts, and then the flipside of that is that zero to one isn't tough either. Then again, this is Brian's system and I don't know much about how karma works, other than the basics.
Also, for future reference is anyone is curious, it's totally peer generated. Moderators don't have the ability to change karma either positively or negatively.
Tiger uses custom clubs with Nike logos on them. Not the same as switching to Nike clubs off the shelf.
Nike not really known for producing good clubs. It would make sense that there is a deal in place where Tiger could have his custom shafts made and the manufacturing company allows the swoosh to be placed on them. At a small fee I am sure.....
I believe Nike gets Tiger's forged muscleback irons from Miura. Endo forging is probably considered the best and I wouldn't be surprised if Nike gets Rory's irons from them.
This is why the notion that "Nike clubs suck" doesn't hold water here. Most of the top blade irons are coming from these Japanes foundries. There's only so much technology that can go into exactly where to distribute a limited amount of mass on the back of an iron. The most important factors are shaft and grind. I'm sure he will keep the same shafts and sole grinds.
