Kate Mara's probably the most "famous" of the bunch. Michael B. Jordan's claim to fame is that he played a character on The Wire and made headlines when Andrew Garfield suggested Spider-Man should be gay and Michael B. Jordan should play his boyfriend, "M.J."

As for the other two cast choices, yeah I have no clue either.

Way back when, Marvel went bankrupt, and had to sell their most popular properties (X-Men, Spiderman, Daredevil, Fantastic 4, etc) to companies like Sony and Fox. In order to keep those properties, Those studios must make a film every so often, otherwise those rights revert back to Marvel. For instance, Daredevil's rights just returned to Marvel because Fox hadn't produced one since 2003

That's why we've seen Wolverine eleventy-billion times on the big screen,as well as several Spiderman films. Fantastic 4 was beginning to approach the deadline, so they're re-booting in with hopes it will spawn a productive trilogy. These studios know that even if they churn out crap movies, they'll still make solid profits off them.

The properties going back to Marvel would be the best scenario, but that's never going to happen.

I guess I just care because I prefer things that at least try to make some kind of sense. Just telling me two people are siblings and they clearly most likely are not without some kind of explanation irritates me almost as much as people who think the words literally and figuratively are interchangeable.

unless they were comic book fans growing up.

When January Jones was cast as Emma Frost in First Class, she said she had never read a comic book in her life. After the movie was released, she said she still hadn't.

Part of it has to do with the who currently owns the rights to make the characters. With Spider-man I believe the rights would have go back to Marvel if Sony had not made another movie within a certain time period. It is probably the same with the Fantastic Four.

Waaaaay too many comic movies lately. I love comics, but everytime one comes out I cringe a bit. It's never like I would do it.

FYI - pick up Thor: God of Thunder "God Butcher" TPB - it's fantastic. Also if you are really late to the party the Batman New 52 first two volumes on TPB (Court of Owls and the other one) are some of the best shit I've read in a while. Hawkeye is great too.

Never was a big F4 guy myself so I can't comment on the choices.

Way too many bad movies might be a more apt commentary.  Comics, lame comedies, lame action flicks.  TV, primarily HBO, Showtime, basic cable, but even networks, are now putting out a more consistent, high-quality product.  20, even 10 years you wouldn't have seen major movie stars going to TV like they are now.  Today they don't think twice about it.

There are of course still great movies, just very few that get a lot of attention.
