OT: New Drinking Game (Red Wings)

Submitted by Adrian on
Whenever a red wings player gets hurt take a shot. Another red wing injured tonight. Has anyone seen anything like this in any sport any period. This team is pretty much the grand rapids team playing nhl hockey. If somehow the wings make the playoffs mike should be coach of the year.

Yep 11 players on the bench tonight were at Grand Rapids for the championship last year. Out of 20. 19 by the end of the night. The young guys are doing as well as could be expected.

I've never seen anything like this with the injuries, especially that we have lost all of our original starting centers.

Absolute must win tonight and they pulled it off.  If its anything like the close of the season last year, this could be a fun playoff race.  LGRW!

It is seriously becoming flat-out emotionally taxing to watch this team. Tough breaks. I'm hoping it means next year everyone's back and healthy most of the season and they can make one more run with Hank and Pav.

Man, there was a time not terribly long ago when the drinking games revolved around shorthanded goals and someone getting Kronwalled. There also used to be game, I believe, based on zoom-ins to Mike Babcock.

Watching from afar, this has been a rough season to follow.  Still, if they make the playoffs this year they'll be a dangerous out, especially if a couple of these guys make it back.

The injuries are an excuse for the wings play this year. Yes, the wings would be in better position in the playoffs. Yes, the wings would look more functional. With that being said even when the team was healthy they still weren't that good. This was never going to be a serious championship team.

The wings are a -20 in the third period this year. That comes from a lack of focus. And three third period woes haven't been just this year but for the last couple years. It's really time to consider breaking up this roster

For the first time since 2009, I am not calling for Ken Holland's head. I've had little complaints here and there, like not starting Tatar and Nyquist from day one. It is Cleary's fault he isn't in Philly. Sammy has been riding pine for being sucky. Which is awesome.

The injuries have decimated this team. But the guys from GR are doing everything they can to hold it together. These kids look NHL ready right now. Add in Pavel and Zetterberg, and this team is competing with Boston for the division. But whatever. Let's cross our fingers, and hope for the playoffs.

It's going to be entertaining as hell down the stretch here.

Justin Abdelkader (groin probably), Todd Bertuzzi (lower body), Tomas Jurco (ribs), Joakim Andersson (foot), Daniel Cleary (knee), Darren Helm (concussion), Pavel Datsyuk (zest), Henrik Zetterberg (back), Mikael Samuelsson (who cares), Jonas Gustavsson (groin), Stephen Weiss (groin) & holy shit this list is long.

Our blue line is iffy, correct. But the missing impact offensively & defensively from the forwards is a huge game changer IMO.

Also, with how often Howard/The Monster have been injured this season as well, neither one has been able to get into a rythym. That would make the defense look better too.

Add in a deadline deal for a defenseman instead of Legwand, and yeah. I could see us 5 points back of Boston instead of Toronto.

Part of it should not be a surprise. Bert has been breaking down slowly over the past couple years and Weiss has injury history. Cleary is old and frequently beaten up anyways.

But the rest of it is just bad luck. Helm continues to find ways to get hurt. But I guess we shouldnt' be surprised given his style of play. But yeah, just bad luck. I'd love to sneak in, but maybe an extra month or two of rest this summer wouldn't be the end of the world.
