OT: ND alum donates $375,000 so ND student tickets championship are only $150

Topic pretty much sums up what happened. Just thought it was cool and wanted to put it out there if any of you fancy pants alumns wants to do this so I can go to the outback bowl for cheaper than $80. I kid, but not really.

that there are people successful enough to contemplate such decisions, but GD that's a big price to pay for lower prices on student bowl tickets.

Good for them, though, they'll need every advantage they can get.

Forget poverty or cancer research... You know who really needs help are those notre dame students who can afford 50k a year to go to school but definitely not 100 for a football tick (and I say this bc I'm jealous. It is pretty cool)

I hate that argument.  If someone spends money on a luxury item then it speaks ill of the person who spent the money.  If that is the case, we should just stop spending money on football.  We should tear down the luxury boxes, Crisler expansion, or the other new facilities that were built for our teams. Why even bother bringing up this argument even if you do note jealousy?

I think you are right on the money. The students at ND are not MSU-like. They do have brains. If I was there and I saw how much money these tickets are going for (Thousands), I think I would try to get one for myself and gobble up as many as I could to resell them. You could literally make 10k off of this game, if you had access to $150 tickets. There are two sides, obviously. ND will likely never make it back to the National Championship, so going to the game might be a once in a lifetime experience. Buying one ticket and selling how ever many you can get your hands on, would easily pay for the trip and give you put some extra cash to put on bama...

$350?!  Even $150 is a pretty absurd price for student tickets.  Given how much these big games make in TV money, they should literally let the 10,000 or so students in for free just as an atmosphere enhancer.  Whenever they pan the crowd, who do they show?  Students, not the fat cats.

Frankly I don't know what everybody's whining about, $350 is a little steep, but hell I know I would pay a grand just to see Michigan play in the National Championship.

I believe the face value ot the lowest priced ticket is $350.00. As of a few minutes ago, it appears that the average price on stubhub, ebay, ticketmaster, etc., is >$1,700.00. Price has gone up after Bama's win. As far as I am concerned, it is alot of money for sitting in the so-called nosebleed sections of the stadium.

Honestly, though, even though it's the Orange Bowl and not the BCS Championship game, I think NIU giving any students who will be attending a free ticket is a better deal.
