I am guessing that Saban and Bielema will now take it to the streets with a public service announcement. I can see either of them, eggs in hand and in front of a frying pan and using the format of an famous anti-drug ad:

"OK, last time."

*holds up egg*

"This is football."

*camera moves to frying pan*

"This is uptempo offense."

*egg is broken and emptied into pan*

"This is football with uptempo offense. Any questions?"

I thought the proposed rule was OK.  Giving defenses 10 seconds to substitute wouldn't have been that much.  I'm surprised how much of an outcry there was.

if offense subsitute, the defense must have the same courtesy of subsituting at the same time.  If defense tries to subsitute and offense does not, the offense has the right to snap it quickly for too many men on the field.  The officials will stand over the ball if offense does subsitute.

When I first saw this I read it as the NCAA was going to finally withdraw the S.E.C rules.  You know, like its OK in the SEC to pay players, its OK to oversign and cut players, etc.
