Who's your favorite for the dunk contest?

3 Point?

What are you watching for?

I can appreciate an ardent Anti-NBA guy... Nothing wrong with not liking something... but leave the thread for those who do... This is a pretty big yearly event for some of us.  Also, this is a University of Michigan blog.  A lot of us Michigan alums are not from the Detroit area and couldn't give a fuck less about the Pistons Wings and Lions.  (It was bad enough having the Lions games on while I lived in A2) lol

Just because people are giving you the business over creating TWO open threads (just saw that you created the UFC one as well)of little interest, doesn't mean that you have to get all agro to prove you belong in your tap out shirt and tribal tattoo awaiting the main event. For the record-I'm not the one flamebaiting your post, but thanks for the same courtesy.

I'd watch paint dry, grass grow, or ice melt before I'd watch anything from the NBA...

Besides, you will see highlights from EVERY part of it on ESPN for the next 2 weeks...your worldwide leader for everything NBA.

The 3-point shootout is the best part of the weekend.  I can't believe how good Love was in the first round.  Crazy skills for a big guy.

Hi mgobloggers -- longtime reader, apparently never activated my account. was wondering if you could help me out with something.

Students for Educational Equality (SEE), a group founded at the University of Michigan, has been picked as one of the fifteen finalists (out of thousands) in the White House Campus Champions of Change Challenge. SEE provides free ACT tutoring and college mentoring to students in Detroit and Ypsilanti. If we make it to the top five, we'll be given the opportunity to go to the White House and meet the President!

Vote here: www.campuschallenge.uservoice.com for "SEE ACT 2012" by March 3, 2012. It is extremely easy to vote -- takes about 15 seconds (and you don't have to make an account or anything).

This is where we need your help! We're currently in 8th place -- behind school such as Brown, Arkansas, and UMass. We all know that Michigan has the best fans in the world so please vote!

The dunk contest is a shell of what it used to be. Completely disorganized, no star players, more emphasis on theatrics than dunks...sigh

The NBA as a whole is fucking losing me with this garbage.

The Heat have SIX representatives all weekend?  New York has four?  Meanwhile Denver, Milwaukee, New Orleans, and Toronto have none.
You mean to tell me that he entire nation of Canada had nothing to root for while America was gifted with the presence of bench players Norris Cole and James Jones?  DeMar DeRozan and Amir Johnson would have put up better dunks than we saw tonight, and Jose Calderon is as good of a candidate as any for the three point contest or skills challenge.

Yeah, it's a freaking joke. 3 point contest is the only thing I watch on All-Star Weekend. Dunk contest is nothing because the best dunkers don't even participate (ie scaredy cat Lebron).

But i've also gotten to the point where I will watch the Pistons and nobody else. Officiating is atrocious and games can be a snoozer except for the last 2 minutes of every quarter. Those are the only times teams play tough defense consistently.
