A couple of years ago there were several teams who started tanking games late in the year to get better draft picks. Not only did Stern do nothing, but he didn't even acknowledge it was an issue. Now because it happens with his marquee franchise he has to act like a diva. Long live college sports.....

Why did Pop have to sit ALL of those guys on the same night? Yeah, guys have days off in baseball but generally you don't wave the white flag In any one single game. Rest is one thing but throwing a game is entirely different.

I haven't watched the NBA in years. Junk league of ball-hogs playing streetball. NCAA teams play real basketball - you know: passing, set plays.

The spurs and heat could close shop tomorrow - nobody cares.

First of all, if your local team of choice happens to be the Pistons or Wizards, then what you are watching is not streetball.  It's garbage.

Second, if you ever watched the better teams in the NBA, you would see good offensive flow.  The Princeton offense, triangle, whatever D'Antoni calls his offense, are in full display.

Now if you want to talk about the quality of player, that's a different story.  But that won't change until the NBA and possibly Euro leagues stop taking kids until their third year out of high school, like the NFL.  If these kids had to stay in college, not only would the college product be even better, but the NBA would be able to draft kids with a larger body of work to review, as opposed to one or two years max.

It's all about $$$. Integrity is non-existent. Stern is a fucking clown. That's why pro sports suck and college is way better. Although some motherfuckers are trying to tarnish the image of college football (ie Delaney.)

The NBA is a business. Lets not forget that. There wouldn't be a NBA if the owners of teams didn't make money. It's the beginning of the season and this was a NBA showcase game. The Spurs didn't inform anyone that four of their best players wouldn't be making the trip. Since it was a showcase game they could have played in this game and sat out or played significantly less minutes in the next game. How would you feel if Brady Hoke didn't let Lewan, DROB, Fitz, Roundtree and Gardner not dress for a game this season to rest them even if they were healthy? David Stern is looking out for the fans. I appreciate that because I was excited to watch that game and when I found out that the Spurs were resting their best players I was kind of bummed. I think they may doing it to attract free agents. Come play for us and you won't have to travel on all of the long road trips. That and not having to pay state taxes in TX is A huge selling point. That player that traded from the Marlins to the Bluejays was pissed because there is no state tax in Florida and he will pay approx 8 million a year more in taxes since he now plays in Canada. That's why nobody wants to play in Canada and the fact that it's Canada.

I don't think MLB is more grueling than the NBA.  It's a longer season and there are more games, but baseball isn't as hard on the body.  A lot of NBA players end their careers with bad knees and bad backs.  Some pitchers have shoulder/elbow trouble at the end of their careers, but the position players are generally okay . . . and I'd rather have a bad shoulder than a bad back or bad knees.
