OT: MSU not completely rotten.

So to go with my diary post a while back, the EL newspaper just released a big story on what the football team is doing with my cousin, figured some of you who appreciated the diary might like a read:

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article/20111119/GW01/111190314/MSU-football-Okemos-girl-s-cancer-battle-inspires-Spartans?fb_ref=artsharetop&fb_source=profile_oneline

EDIT: Here's a video to go along with it.

Really though, I would hope there is no need for a reminder. I"d be happy if Hoke felt a need to search them for chain belts and brass knuckles before the game.

but you may notice that my avatar is a picture of Kirk Cousins.  That is because I am a huge fan of his and of many players on the Michigan State Football team.

About this time last year, a 40 year old friend of mine was beginning to lose his fight against brain cancer.  Through some associations, I was able to put the word out to Kirk that it would mean a great deal for my friend to meet him.

The next day, Kirk personally called my wife and arranged for him, his brother, and some of his teammates meet with my friend and his family.  These guys came over that day and talked with them, prayed for him, and spent time with his boys.  It was a selfless gesture from a bunch of guys we had never met.

I agree with bronxblue and some of the other posters that it is fun to have a rivalry, but it is also good to remember that we are all people. Therefore I have no problem cheering for many of the Spartan players knowing that they do so much in our community.

If we're going to have war, let it begin on Canham's carpet. Bob Ufer
