Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino of Jersey Shore is going to be a #Spartan fan this season. Catch him at a game in Spartan Stadium.

EDIT:  Hollis is now backing off from his previous promotion of the Jersey Shore star, by claiming he just bought a ticket and it has nothing to do with MSU.   (Didn't know he tracked tickets sales on a personal level.)  Wow, make a bad decision to trumpet something embarrasing about your school and then lack the integrity to stand behind the decision?  He makes Dave Brandon look like a genius.

@MSUAD Mark Hollis
I find this quite humerous, the guy bought a ticket and is coming to a college football game. On his own. Not MSU driven.

(This is OT because someone else already suggested MSU threads should be that way right now.)

New Jersey--every member of whose family went to UM with that brush? Bl*w me, then tell us where you're from. Yours is my nomination for lamest, least useful diary of the week.

EDIT: Given that Michigan is a school with a far better reputation, far wider reach, I'll bet there are a lot more people from the East Coast like me in Ann Arbor than E. Lansing. Basically, you numbnutz diary is propounded on this idea: hey, some guy from N. Jersey will be at MSU's home games this year. Let's use it as an opportunity to trash the state!

P.S. I really DO want to hear where you're from, mean-ass.

Seriously though what is with the NJ insecurity complex?  Rip on PA for being Pennsyltucky and everyone from PA will laugh our asses off*.  For some reason it's pretty much the Jerseyites that aren't secure enough to take a joke about their home state.

Feel free to trash to us, we always need new material for things like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhFHqNKnfes

*While secretly wishing we'd give the middle of the state (minus the turnpike) to West VA to get them out of our hair.

It's an outsider/insider thing. If you're from the area or know it well I can laugh all day about it with you. That's probably because you have some insight in just how shitty it can be. But often comments ragging on Jersey come from people who've haven't spent a significant amount of time there and have no insight on it. I object to the lack of originality more than anything.

And it's silly to pretend this kind of defensiveness is peculiar. Michiganders can be hyperdefensive about Detroit. Edit: Cue aratman's comment above, "As us true Michiganders say if you don't like Michigan go fuck yourself."

It is duplicitous to love a school and hate the state that at some level funds it. People tend to get defensive about the place that created them see Irish, Italians, Russians and all others.   Michigan is a great place because it is my home.  That might not make it a great place for you but it does to me.

I didn't tarnish you.  I was clearly referring to the people on the show (and their wanna-be imitators), not people from the state of NJ as a whole.

Calm down.  I never trashed the state.  Be a little more secure and confident next time.

(Unless this is all some schtick and you are just kidding.)

But I'm with the poster above--a serious lack of originality here. The Jersey Shore thing. . . played. The funny thing is that Jersey is generally one of the wealthiest states, more f'd up because of its snobby suburban thing than the shore. The shore is great--I spent many  summers of my youth there.  Peace.

Don't knock the Jersey shore.  There are plenty of very nice, not at all trashy, places at the shore that had their name ruined by that stupid show.

Overheard on campus: "Dat's AWESOME!  He's the ULTIMATE BRAH! Maybe he'll come back to our house and we can watch 300 together!"

Well played, Mark Hollis.

As a resident of NJ I can state that it is worse here than what is seen on the Jersey Shore.

The Jersey Shore does not show the high taxes, congestion or Super Fund sites

They just showed the MSU @ UM game on BTN again.  I could watch that sequence at the end where Izzo tears into Summers like a spittle spraying lunatic for hours.  Cant wait to beat down glass roe and the sex crime sophomores again...

I just followed the link to see whether it was Hollis or the OP who didn't know how to spell.  Three guesses what I found . . . .
