OT: Most Interesting Man in the World... No Longer (at least not OUR world)

Submitted by superstringer on

The Most Interesting Man in the World is retiring.  Well, sort of.  He's going to Mars, on a one-way trip.  Seriously.

Dos Equis is apparently only retiring the actor who's been playing TMIMITW.  There will be a new evolution of this ad campaign; maybe a new TMIMITW, maybe a TMIWITW, or maybe a bunch of them.

I have always loves this campaign.  "His Mom has a tattoo that reads, 'Son.'"  Etc.  What's your favorite factoid about him?  Or make ones up that OUGHT to be true about him?

I saw somewhere he is the #2 most favorite pitchman character, after the always-annoying but somewhat-hot Flo (Progressive), and after Flo's competitor Mayhem (State Farm).  Well, now he's your favorite retired pitchman character.

Thanks. I just remember one of the first times I saw one of those comercials, someone in the room already knew who she was. I am now at the age where I assume that means she is famous for something I am not in the loop on rather than assuming the person is weird for knowing an obscure commercial actress.

It's like America Ferrara in Ugly Betty.  They have no problem transforming an actress from hot to not-hot when they want to.

You are watching the show and you are thinking "There is something sneaky hot about that girl, and I'll bet am the only one that has noticed."

Um, not so much.  She's smoking hot and they are barely able to hide it.

Because Dos Equis was such a household name beer-wise prior to launching it.  It never ceases to amaze me to watch successful, well-liked ad campaigns get halted just cause the firm doing the ads felt the need for something "fresh".

I bet he started asking for too much money, and they can't just re-voice him like the Aflac duck.

OTOH, an ad campaign can get stale. The Cavemen were hilarious when they first aired. Ended up being one of the more annoying campaigns.

But I predict that a Most Interesting Woman in the World goes badly, at least if they try to do it the same way.

No less than 25 Mexican folk songs have been written about his beard.

He gave his father "the talk."

If he were to punch you in the face you would have to fight off a strong urge to thank him.

If he was to pat you on the back, you would list it on your resume.
