OT: More Tiger Woods

Submitted by QuarterbackU on
Tiger has been linked to an ELEVENTH woman...this make me more and more sick... http://entertainment.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/12/08/porn-star-joslyn-jame…- EDIT: I should have made myself more clear...the situation doesn't make me sick from a standpoint that I'm a huge Tiger fan, and I hate to see him stumbling...that's nowhere near the truth, I'm a "meh" golf fan, and I think Tiger's a great athlete but that's it... My actual intent in what I wrote was to convey how disgusting I find his behavior...I'm actually recently engaged, and about to be married in 2010, and when I think about how if I did something like that to my fiancée, how much it would kill her to be finding this out...I can't imagine how Elin must feel, and to have the whole world know that her husband was unfaithful to her... Sure, she'll have money, but there's way more to life than that, and she just had a bunch of that taken away from her...

Why does it sicken you? I, for one, think this story is great fun! It'd be lame if there was only one woman and the media tried to berate him for a single mistake ... but this story doesn't stop! It keeps on giving! As long as people can stay out of the emergency room, I find it very entertaining. I've never seen a guy's image self destruct so fast. And, just as a disclaimer, I was kinda annoyed by Tiger to start with. If I was a Tiger fan then this would be kind of awkward and I'd probably tell you to go mind your own business.

if part of the attachment is the racial angle -- everybody pulling for Tiger in an historically all-white sport the way they pulled for Jackie Robinson in 1948. With this stuff, the attachment turns into grief; a sort of OJ-Simpson-lite-shocker-without-the-bodies.

I think a thread should be started with guesses on how many women he allegedly slept with. The winner gets 2,000 mgopoints. It would be great fun.

OJ Simpson was out of the limelight. He was years removed from playing or being in those Naked Gun movies. Darryl Strawberry was never thought of as a upperclass citizen. Tiger was thought of as a saint but he turned out to be a horny devil in disguise.

Agreed. Neither OJ nor Strawberry (nor Tyson, nor anyone else) is even close. Tiger is indisputably the world's best golfer now, arguably the world's most popular athlete, and at the peak of his game. And had a teflon, squeaky-clean image. His fall is totally unprecedented.

Biggest fall from grace ever? And he hasn't even played a tournament yet. Come on people.... We now live in a "right this minute" generation, don't we? Bigger falls from grace: O.J. Simpson Darryl Strawberry Doc Gooden Mark McGwire Barry Bonds Roger Clemens Latrell Sprewell Antoine Walker (broke) Len Bias Kermit Washington The list could go on and on... but simply cheating on your wife and being in the tabloids all the time doesn't make your fall from grace the biggest ever. HELL - KOBE WAS BEING TRIED FOR RAPE and the media doesn't even really talk about it anymore. Give it time and it will fade. Until then, avoid saying things that make you sound retarded.

I also don't understand why this would make anyone sick. I guess if you are a big enough fan of a complete stranger I can understand why you would be upset. But to be honest anyone that is that big of a fan of a stranger has their own problems. I'm going to put his number at 18 before it's all said and done.

maybe. But then why discriminate? Why not have compassion for all cheated-on spouses and children of broken homes? I'm willing to bet that it has more to do with putting athletes/celebs on pedestals and less to do with his poor wife and kids. but maybe......

I posted a longer post about this before, but I'll sum up my opinion: It's because Tiger's image was such a valuable asset. Not many people can sell their image the way Tiger did. Now that asset has taken a substantial hit. The people who are most upset about this are probably the people who bought his "TW" Nike line, or a Buick ... or a Gilette razor(?). A lot of people were fooled by his image. Now they're hurt and feel betrayed. It's like finding out that Tebow isn't a virgin.

"But then why discriminate? Why not have compassion for all cheated-on spouses and children of broken homes? I'm willing to bet that it has more to do with putting athletes/celebs on pedestals and less to do with his poor wife and kids" That's a fair point, but trust me, I have no lack of compassion for everyone who goes through something similar, no one should have to experience that... The fact is, though, not every cheated-on spouse has to bear the humiliation of having pictures of their cheating spouse's partners all over the news... Whether it's right or not, or whether we like it or not, athletes like Tiger are on a pedestal in the sense that everything they do is broadcasted for the world...

but I could see it if I were a huge golf fan that also attended Stanford. Anyway, his wife and kid will be fine. They have tons of money and are able to leave and live their lifestyle, which is more than many people can hope for. Also, Tiger hitting 12+ chicks (most of which are pretty hot) is fine, but why even get married? He could have pulled a hot wife when he was 55.

So you are saying that because they will be taken care of as far as their monetary needs that they will be fine? I would have to say that you are 100% off base with that comment. Their lives have been ruined. Elin has been humiliated and probably loved him. Ever heard of the phrase, "money isn't everything"?

On one of the many other Tiger threads I read a very similar comment and will give you a very similar response......Are you f'ing serious? I can tell from this statement that you have no significant other and have never cared for anyone in life other than yourself or you would know how absolutely insane your comment is. The thought that money would make up for the fact that the person you loved and wanted to spend the rest of your life with was out screwing anyone (much less lots of people) while you were home looking after the kids is plain crazy. In your thinking a person laughs all the way to the bank to pick up the insurance check after a loved one dies because hey.....now I will be looked after so screw my wife/child/father etc who just died.....Who needs them, now I have money.

I've never even heard of this gal. A pro athlete with a couple zillion bucks should definitely be able to do better than some C-list porn star. Yikes! Raise your game, Tiger.

PurpleStuff

The problem with the C-listers is that they are already fame whores, but they need to make a splash if they want to move up. Screwing around with low-rent porn stars and some gal from Tool Academy is about as un-discreet as you can get. They would be the first people in the world to run to the press and sell their story. I get the "indiscretions" with regular girl-next-door types if you want to be discreet, but he just wasn't thinking with these two.

The marginal utility of each additional mistress has decreased significantly for me. What are we at, 11? Even 15 wouldn't be that funny anymore. We need a kid, or steroids. Additional mistresses just aren't cutting it anymore.

... half of the people are lying or newspapers are reporting stories without fully vetting sources (shocker, I know). BUT... add to that the other girls that are probably not coming out, and I'm guessing the number is much higher. Which brings me to my next point -- HIGH END CALL GIRLS. For fuck's sake. Why even risk it with all these dime store star chasers, when there are professionals out there who probably provide a better service that is much more discreet. Charlie Sheen put it best when he said (and I paraphrase), "I don't pay them for sex, I pay them to leave."
